"First off the job I was wanting done was a small job. I installed a window in the mud room and when I removed the paneling in the wall to cut the hole for the window, I found unexpected voids in the wall from the previous work. I also put up a stud wall in the west of the mud room. My original plan was to fully insulate with foam the mud room because it was the only room in the house left exposed to outside temperature changes. I expected to pay fully for the work.
Chris, owner and president of Air Tight, came over to give me a proper estimate for the work I wanted done. I showed Chris all that I wanted done from the garage end first and then I showed him the wall with the newly installed window. He noticed the voids in the wall and was surprised because his company "does not do substandard work," as Chris put it. I was prepared to pay for the new work I wanted done, but he told me Air Tight of Kansas would do it for free.
Air Tight of Kansas stands behind their work more than a 100%. I could not be happier with the insulation. The house stays  warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer with the new heating and cooling system without sky high bills. There is no more creaking or popping with the change in temperature any longer. As an added bonus to the foam insulation, there is less movement do to strong winds, one can hardly hear the wind or rain for that matter.
The employees are excited about their product and that excitement I picked up on at the Home Show, where I was introduced to foam installation as a retrofit option. The cost was reasonable and I expect to pay less in gas and electricity for heating and cooling over the next few years.
I highly recommend Air Tight of Kansas for new construction and remodeling for your insulation needs.

Small jobs welcome

"Tammy, Rueben and the whole crew have been amazing! I had a flood in my home back in May which left me heartbroken. Dimension Drywall replaced all my sheetrock, painted the whole 1200 square ft. basement, did the trim and baseboards. They finished the whole job less than a week, cleaned everything up very nice, and even moved my furniture for me. I could not be more pleased with their work and their pricing is very competitive. I highly recommend this crew, and will refer them to friends and family. I love the finished product and so thankful to have found them!! Thank you guys. I'm truly grateful!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"We decided to update our 32-year old home?s kitchen in April 2012.  Paul and Linda helped us design a useable and beautiful space, which I can?t even believe is our kitchen.  We went from soffits above small cabinets and a peninsula with cabinets hanging down, blocking the family room, to a very open design with a huge island and wall cabinets all the way to the ceiling.
The work included:  All new cabinets with pull-out trays and soft-close doors and drawers and fantastic LED under-cabinet lighting; installed our door and drawer pulls; new travertine and mosaic backsplash; granite counter-tops; a fantastic sliding door where a regular door had been and new outside steps at this door; a lot of drywall work on the walls and ceiling, plus painting the ceiling and walls; new plumbing and faucet at the sink; a new vent to the outside for the stove (which was a very involved process); new LED can lights and pendants over the island; and many new electrical outlets. They also moved a ceiling light fixture to the living room and put up a new outside light over the new door.
I can?t say enough about Rex and Jamie.  Rex is a magician at making things look perfect and Jamie?s attention to detail in the electrical and plumbing areas was greatly appreciated.  Linda was a huge asset in choosing the elements of the remodel.
There were a couple of problems but they were successfully resolved.
The job was longer than originally expected, but Paul was working toward giving us the best value for our money by making sure we had quality products.  Even though we spent more than we originally budgeted, we got a very high-quality, beautiful remodel that has undoubtedly increased the value of our home."

"This is the 2nd time I have used VantagePoint Exteriors to install windows for me.  First time was in a condominium and from an Angie's Big Deal.  Loved the windows and they did a good job so used them again when I bought a house.  I gave a B on price but they are competitive with other companies.  Double hung, double paned windows are just plain expensive.  The windows are awesome and are Heartland windows.  But windows are only as good as they are installed.  My crew (Willy, Justin, and Anthony) were truly superior. I was there the entire time and I know they went above and beyond. I had a beautiful bay window put in where I had a triple window.  It is unbelievably good looking and they had to do extra work because of how heavy it was.  Built knee braces and insulated and trimmed it out in the interior because it needed wider trim. Truly did an great job. Justin and Anthony are hard working, polite, young men. Willy knows everything there is about installing windows (and is a joker too!). It did take almost 2 months for my windows to come in after being ordered but that's just how it is.  I'm sure the window company (in the good ole USA, Iowa) is busy because they truly make a great product. VantagePoint now does siding also which they did not do when I had my first windows installed. They are much busier this time around as it is a husband-wife team but they want to do right by their customers.  You may have to ask for something or remind them of something that needs done but it will get done.  They will be back at my house this fall to finish up my last 8 windows.

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

While fumigation chemicals cannot pass through solid objects, they will seep into any openings in walls, doors, or other closed spaces. This allows them to get into tight places where pests may be hiding and causing damage, like termites ruining the foundation of your home. It also means that your home needs to ventilate for 48 hours before returning to ensure that no harmful chemicals remain in your space.

You can paint over drywall mud about 24 hours after application, but the exact timing depends on factors like humidity, temperature, and the thickness of the mud. For the best results, ensure the mud is completely dry to the touch and has changed from a darker gray to a lighter, chalky white. Don’t forget to sand and prime the drywall surface before you paint to create a smooth, even finish.

The average cost to apply a skip-trowel drywall texture to walls is $1.25 to $2.00 per square foot. Ceilings cost slightly more because of the increased difficulty of working overhead. Additional cost factors include any drywall repairs and removal of existing textures or wallpaper.

The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.
