Power Solutions Electrical Services was founded in 2002 by owner Patrick Shepard. We currently have three electricians employed. We accept cash or check.

"Patrick was very nice on the phone and was able to get to the house promptly. He described over the phone what the likely problem was and arrived as scheduled. He checked to ensure electricity working and reset an arc breaker that had tripped and had a "white button" that my college age son had not seen to reset. He also replaced the outlet covers that my son's friends father had taken off to see if he could see a problem before we called to get it professionally looked at. He was at the home approximately 20 minutes. Good communication after as well. My only concern was the charge of $110 for 20 minutes of work to reset a tripped breaker. I live out of state and maybe this is typical charge for this area, but the charge seemed a bit overpriced for the work completed. I will look elsewhere for our next electrical needs."

As a 100% employee-owned company we have the highest level of commitment to each other and our customers. Give us a call today to assist you with your electrical needs (785)-233-2213.

"The people from Torgerson are amazing! They provide great customer service. I explained the urgency of our project, was put on a brief hold, and was told they would send an electrician within the hour. The technician arrived, discussed the placement of the outlet with the crew installing our wood floors, and completed the installation of the outlet without interrupting progress on the wood floors. We couldn't be happier or more satisfied with the work and the service provided by Torgerson. We would highly recommend them."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Ceiling fans provide a number of advantages for your home. They help circulate air throughout your home to avoid stagnant environments, and they can help lower utility bills if they keep you from switching on your air conditioning. Between built-in lighting and modern styling, ceiling fans can also add aesthetic appeal to your space.

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

Essential tools for ceiling fan installation include a ladder, screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers, and a circuit tester. If the ceiling is angled or features unique configurations, ensure the availability of a compatible mounting bracket.
