Power Solutions Electrical Services was founded in 2002 by owner Patrick Shepard. We currently have three electricians employed. We accept cash or check.

"Patrick was very nice on the phone and was able to get to the house promptly. He described over the phone what the likely problem was and arrived as scheduled. He checked to ensure electricity working and reset an arc breaker that had tripped and had a "white button" that my college age son had not seen to reset. He also replaced the outlet covers that my son's friends father had taken off to see if he could see a problem before we called to get it professionally looked at. He was at the home approximately 20 minutes. Good communication after as well. My only concern was the charge of $110 for 20 minutes of work to reset a tripped breaker. I live out of state and maybe this is typical charge for this area, but the charge seemed a bit overpriced for the work completed. I will look elsewhere for our next electrical needs."

There’s no reason why you can’t install a ceiling fan anywhere in your home, such as in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dining areas. Most bathrooms already have ventilation and don’t need a ceiling fan. Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.

It’s possible to install your own ceiling fans if you’re replacing an existing one. This work doesn’t require a permit and technically doesn’t necessitate a certified electrician, but it’s still a good idea to hire one. There’s always a safety risk when working with electrical components, even if you shut the power off at the breaker. If you’re installing a new ceiling fan where there currently isn’t a fixture, you will need a licensed electrician to run the new wiring and pull permits for the work.
