After having a home for decades where we hired quality lawn and tree care it is difficult to endure the 4th rate work that Van Booven inflicts on our condo community. The workers trample garden plants, blown off expensive mulch that owners use to protect plants and continue to come into private patios and walk ways when requested not to. In looking at another review I thought it interesting that the reviewer said one of Van Booven's own arborists recommend other companies for "complex tree removal" and "better price". I would go out of my way to recommend anyone but Van Booven. Today they damaged plants and dropped limbs onto my hot tub but their arborists do not actually do the tree removal...they just sell the jobs.

"We were under contract & hired by the homes association to provide landscape maintenance & tree care services. [Member Name Removed] is a resident in one of the condos units within the association. The association has "common ground areas" that we are responsible for maintaining. [Member Name Removed] had taken liberties to plant a landscape in a common ground area beneath a tree outside of her patio enclosure. The tree outside her patio enclosure died, and had to be removed. As much care as possible was taken to protect plantings she had placed beneath the tree. Some of the Hosta's and other delicate plantings were damaged, and wood mulch disturbed in the process of removing & cleaning up the tree debris. Our crews did enter into her patio enclosure to complete cleanup of debris from the tree - If they did not thoroughly clean up the area [Member Name Removed] would have given poor comments for that also. I think she is really upset with the bylaws of her homes association, and is upset that she can not control every thing as she would like."

Van Booven was great! They were out the next morning with cranes. Everything was removed and cleaned up.

He was punctual and very professional. His recommendations were genuine, especially considering that he told me most of our trees were in great shape and would not need pruning for another few years. For our one problem tree, he diagnosed the problem and recommended removal. His company does not specialize in these complex removals and thus he gave me numerous recommendations on other providers who he felt could do the work for a better price.
It is important to know that he and the company are certified arborists, which makes a big difference in the quality of recommendations. I have had prior work done by "tree trimers in the area" and was not impressed. VanBooven was a totally different experience. Their professionalism was very much appreciated. While I am not using them for my immediate tree needs, I will absolutely be calling on them for my future trimming needs and general tree advice. Excellent company. Highly recommended.

The crew were very efficient and had all the equipment needed to work on the trees and for clean up.
The head of the crew asked for my input throughout and I was very pleased with the work. Very professional job.

They trimmed some trees and did some "maintenance" on them. I had also had them out last year to do a treatment for the Emerald Ash Borer.
The service went very well. He has been in business for a long time now. He has a degree in Horticulture from Kansas State. I absolutely trust him with my trees. I know that he will only perform the proper trimming at the proper time. I know that everything he does is in the best interest of my trees.

They have done tress, bushes, landscaping and have a board certified arborist. They do not just walk up to a tree and start hacking it. I do not have any dislikes. They are hard working. They respond as quickly as possible. They are very conscientious and reliable. The owner himself came. They have the big trucks and all of that.

We have been using them for 11 years for regular services. They put in some grass seed earlier this year. They are also going to be doing some landscaping for us in the spring. They are excellent with tree care. They have register arborists. They have removed as well as planted trees for us in the past. They do annual pruning. The quality of their work is excellent. They are reliable and respond rapidly. They do a pretty good job of responding to high volume of demand. The price is reasonable too.

Overall a great and friendly experience at a cost effective rate. I was out of town while the work was conducted, but my wife and kids were home. They did a great job of explaining the work they were doing to my wife. They were very courteous and provided a wonderful experience. I would use them in the future in a heartbeat!! Called Brad, who is the team manager, he knows trees and can tell you what you need just by asking a few questions. Schedule was set and the team came in and did the work quickly and professionally. The work was noisy, because of chain saws, etc., but was fast and accurate. I am very happy with the professionalism and quality of the team and their work.

The pear tree was removed and the stump ground and the other tree was trimmed, as I had requested. They removed all of the debris and leaves except for the wood chips. It was fine with me that they left the wood chips from the stump, as I was told they would. It would have cost extra for them to removed them but I can use them in my landscape.
They give an Angie's List discount. I have used them at least 5 times over the past 15 years and I have always been completely satisfied. They have trained arborist who direct the tree trimming so as not to harm the trees and their arborist are very knowledgeable about trees in general. They seem happy to answer questions about tree health and other tree issues. They are true professionals as opposed to the guys who go door-to-door with a truck and some saws. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

I found them here on Angie.s list. I called an left a message and the owner called me back within the hour. The insurance adjuster came by the previous day and cut me a check and I immediately called the owner back and contracted to have the work done.

I had an estimate for tree removal and clearance of yard debris on October 19, 2012. Brad did the estimate. He was very professional and knowledgeable. In addition to an estimate, Brad gave me advice regarding tree health. Today, November 9, 2012, Van Booven removed a tree and cleared yard debris. They were prompt, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. I received additional tree health advice from the job foreman. I am so very pleased with Van Booven that I highly recommend them for any tree service and intend to use them in the future.

They did a really good job for me. I'm going to use them again this fall, but so far they've done good work for me. It wasn't the owner, it was a guy who works for him. He was a little slow on getting here but once he did the guys got out here, got the job done and got it cleaned up. Overall it was gone.

I have used this tree service before, and they do excellent work. They may be a little higher in cost than some, but I know I can trust they to do a very good job. They are certified arborists and really respect trees. They are careful in their work and also do a good cleanup job.
