OWNER-OPERATED. USES SUBS FOR BIGGER JOBS. COST IS DETERMINED BY THE JOB. NO TRAVEL CHARGES. NO SERVICE FEES. EXTRA CHARGE FOR AFTER-HOURS SERVICE APPLIES. MAY CONTACT THROUGH EMAIL.

"I paid upwards of $6,000 directly to David Mxxxxx, one of Able?s only workers. The work was rushed, sloppy, and half-done, which caused severe damage to my vehicles. I had to pay for them to be completely repainted and recoated after Able?s work destroyed them. To make matters worse, David Mandel later came to my house for ?repair work? and stole my ladder. I then had to spend thousands more hiring other handymen to fix the mess this company left behind. { comments redacted } Do not hire these people, and do not allow David into your home if you are a woman They do not care about their work or the quality. They cut corners, do cheap and damaging work, and leave you with an expensive disaster to clean up. There are plenty of professionals in this area who can do the job right and who you can trust."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post

Table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, desk lamps, and antique or decorative light fixtures that hold sentimental or aesthetic value are commonly repaired.

It’s fair to be concerned about handling pool lights or wiring in a pool filled with water. But fortunately, pool lights and swimming pools are designed to make it easy and safe to replace the lights without needing to drain the water. Instead, you can turn off the electricity to the pool as a safety precaution, unscrew the pool fixture, pull it up and out to the side of the pool, then change the bulb.

Regular inspection, keeping fixtures clean, replacing worn bulbs timely, and checking connections prevent major lighting issues.

In most cases, general electricians and lamp repair specialists can repair lamps, although it’s usually best to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians won’t offer lamp repair services, as the jobs are usually small, and some lamps require dedicated lamp repair expertise that electricians may not have. A dedicated lamp repair technician is also a better option because they will be familiar with different types of fixtures, including antique lamps, and can provide a more dedicated service.
