"I am very happy with the work done by Aaron-Andrews at my home today.  We bought this home just over a year ago and this is my first home ever with a septic system.  The alarm went off in the basement and I was completely lost as to what to do.  Since I am a complete newbie in septic systems, I went to Angie's List since I needed someone I could trust.  The technician called me when I was on the way home to tell me he had tried to get the motor working but it was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. I agreed and had them clean out the tank while he was there since it was new to me.
I called Aaron-Andrews at 2:50 pm from work and by the time I got home at 4:00 pm they were half way finished with the clean out and the new motor was on the way.  They were completely out of here by 5:00 pm and I was thrilled.

"Owner is a great guy! Very professional, honest, and did an excellent job! He fixed our broken water line in the yard on a Sunday and we were so grateful! Price was reasonable and he communicated with us throughout the repair. Rex and his co-worker were top notch professionals! We will use them in the future and highly recommend them if you need a plumber!!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Sealant doesn’t need to be applied to the bolts, but it can be a good way to stop an active leak in the moment. However, don’t rely on it as a cure-all; instead, make sure to fix the problem at the source by changing or tightening the bolts.

If you do use sealant, make sure to spread it thickly and evenly across the bolts and the tank's porcelain.

It is okay to use a drain auger on a toilet, just make sure you are using the correct tip size. The auger is a plumbing snake with a protective sleeve to protect the porcelain toilet bowl from getting scratched. Using too large of an auger can cause the snake to loop back and damage the inside of the drain and plumbing.

While you don’t have to run out and immediately buy a new toilet at the first sign of a clog, if the toilet keeps clogging because it’s a low-flow or poorly designed model, a new toilet may be the way to go. If your toilet keeps clogging, you can try using less toilet paper, adjusting the fill valve, checking the toilet vent pipe on the roof, and using a toilet auger to make sure nothing is stuck in the pipe or trap.

To drain a broken toilet, place towels or plastic sheeting around the base in case of splashing or overflowing. Next, shut off the toilet’s water supply, usually via a valve on the wall behind the toilet. Begin flushing the handle to remove as much water as possible from the tank and the bowl. Don’t flush the toilet if it’s clogged, though. From there, use a large sponge to soak up any remaining water and wring it over a bucket.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.
