Small jobs welcome

"Jeremy has done excellent job, we had a toy stuck in toilet commode, he used a tool and took it out without need to completely dismantle the commode. He also accepted another task of removing broken pipe on the hose on the spot, I really appreciate Jeremy thanks for excellent work. I highly recommend Jeremy."

"They were professional and quick. It was a bit pricey in my opinion but most plumbing usually is. We had a clogged drain and they did a mechanical snake from the roof down the vent pipe for $450. They also threw in a 30 day warranty in case the snake didn't fully clear the block, which is reassuring. However, they were confident that the block was resolved. Toilets and shower are draining so it's looking like it worked. Would hire again."

"Finding a plumber on a Friday night when you come home from work and find yourself with 2 non-functioning toilets isn't easy. But Ecoplumbers took care of the problem that night. Taylor Cordle was very personable and took care of the problems more quickly than I would have expected. I could not have been more pleased!"

"Overnight, an old toilet leaked and the shut off valve could not be turned off.  Archer was able to schedule me on the day I called for service.  Afterwards, the owner called to make sure I was satisfied with the repairs.  Nice touch.

"Mr Freeman is excellent. I did the plumbing here starting in 1992. He is better and a true master plumber. I have more work here but putting in $30,000.00 roof starting tomorrow and have a sewer line and historic metal gates in back alley. Bush alley now closed for way too much. So I will have u back when budget is manageable. I will try the link thing later. But want Mr. Freeman's management know I have 50 yrs experience but he is a gem."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Recaulk your toilet at least every five years. If you feel like your toilet is getting wobbly before that, it still might be time for a new caulking. Never directly place new caulk over existing caulk because that doesn’t produce lasting results. Also, caulking over existing moldy caulk does not kill out the mold by suffocating it, so if you have mold, be sure to get rid of it before recaulking.

There are a few reasons why this could be the case. More than likely, your flapper is worn out and needs to be replaced. When it’s worn out, it lowers the water pressure during each flush leading to inefficient flushing. Luckily, replacing a toilet flapper is a simple repair that should only take about 30 minutes.

The biggest sign that your flange leaks is if you notice water at the base of the toilet. The cause is likely due to a poor flange installation, so you might have issues with loose bolts, an uneven flange, or a cracked plastic flange. Add a deteriorating wax seal to this, and you have a recipe for disaster. The best solution is to shut off the water valve, replace the toilet flange, and seal it with a new wax ring.

In most cases, it’s better to repair a toilet than to replace it. Fixing issues like low water levels, running water, and flushing problems is less expensive than buying a new unit. Start thinking about replacement if the toilet is cracked, using excessive amounts of water, or is over 15 years old. Newer models are more water-efficient and clog less often than older models.

While technically possible, it is unlikely that a clogged toilet will fix itself. Clogs caused by water-soluble materials like toilet paper or human waste may eventually break down in the water, allowing flow to resume. However, this can take time, and any clogs from solid objects require manual removal. In most scenarios, especially if you don't have another bathroom, it is best to fix the clog yourself or call a plumber.
