"Replace a roof at our home. Rob was extremely helpful in facilitating the replacement of our roof. He worked closely with our insurance company made sure the job was done on time and at cost. There are several different roofing contractors working our block but I would only use Eads"

"Excellent Work! - Estimate was done quickly and as scheduled. Contractor was willing to work around my schedule to do job when I was home. Roof was torn off and replaced in one day. Heavy rains the next few days showed no leaks. Contractor completed insurance company paperwork in a timely manner. Cleanup was very good."

"We had an addition put onto our house last year. There were endless delays, the project took much longer than estimated, and the equipment brought in tore up the yard and driveway. When cutting into the house the wall to my daughters bedroom and the living room were punched through and suffered water damage, which they magnanimously painted the one wall to cover. The yard and driveway were never addressed because it “isn’t part of the contract”. Hence, the outlet pipe for the sump pump was simply run about ten feet straight out from the house, a foot above ground. Speaking of which, the sump pump is pretty much UNDER THE BEDROOM FLOOR. The final straw for me was when I requested plain ceramic light fixtures in the closet, and was given shoddy, overpriced plastic fixtures, with the excuse being that the ceramic ones weren’t available anywhere. I’m not going to say that I was lied to, but it took me all of a trip to Walmart to find them, and replace them myself. When I presented the contractor with the cheap lights, I got a guilt trip about how he was going to have to eat the cost of them. Pity. Shortly after construction, I had an unrelated plumbing problem and contacted the plumber we used, and Apex demanded a cut before I could get the work done. Said it’s how he keeps his guys “loyal”. I ended up paying an extra $80ish for precisely nothing. So here I am, some 14 months later and still finding little problems cropping up and fixing them at my expense as they do. I’m not happy, but based on previous interactions, I guess ‘happy’ just wasn’t covered in the contract. To be fair, the overall construction is satisfactory I suppose. It looks nice and doesn’t creak in the high wind that we get here. The roof and windows don’t leak and the floors are solid, but on the other hand the walls and floor are cold as **** in winter (work was completed in summer, so who knew), and the pipes and air ducts are poorly (see also: not) insulated, which I didn’t even think was a thing. Hence, the entire section is more or less an icebox after November. Apparently I didn’t know enough to protect myself in this situation. Hindsight being 20/20, I would not use this company again."

"After reaching out and calling numerous roofing companies to check out my roof after a heavy rainstorm in March 2022. I decided to go with Roof It Forward after they were able to come out almost the same day to inspect some leaking I had on my roof. After their initial runthrough and inspection of my roof, there was enough damage to it from a previous hail and windstorm that I decided to go through insurance and through them to get both my roof and gutters replaced. My rep (Kelly) with Roof It Forward made it super easy and simple to deal with my insurance to get my claim processed. Quality of the work was also excellent, the turnaround time from approval to getting a new roof on was quick and efficient. Their support and service on the roof was also topnotch. The day after the roof replacement, there was a heavy rainstorm and me and wife could have swore we heard leaking from our new roof. We contacted Roof It Forward who was able to immediately send out a small crew to inspect the roof to see if there were any noticeable areas that might be causing it. After some conversation, the noise likely was caused by a new vent that was placed that mimicked the noise and every since, we have not had any issues since. I definitely recommend Roof It Forward for anyone looking to getting their roof inspected/replaced."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Building code allows 24-inch on-center spacing for roof trusses. However, you can install them on 12- or 16-inch centers to handle large loads or other exceptional circumstances. In cases such as covering a wide span or supporting alternative roofing materials, where a structural engineer needs to evaluate or create a design for your trusses, the plans will indicate the spacing.

Most shed roofs can last between 15 and 30 years, although some roofing materials like slate and clay tile can last for 50 to 100 years.  Choosing durable, waterproof roofing materials that can stand up to weather and the elements will help your shed roof last for years to come. Besides the noticeable signs that your shed roof needs to be replaced, it might also be worth replacing if it’s near the end of its life span.

The best way to prevent wind damage to your roof, especially if you live in an area prone to hurricanes, tropical storms, or tornadoes, is to invest in a roofing product with high wind resistance. Look for the ASTM D3161 and ASTM D7158 ratings to see the specific wind speeds your roofing product can withstand. Impact-resistant shingles have the highest wind resistance ratings and will give you the best chance of avoiding wind damage.

You should plan on waiting as long as it takes for the roof deck to dry out completely if it gets wet. In most cases, this will take about 24 hours, but it could take longer if you have shading on your roof or cloudy weather after the rainfall that prevents the sun from drying the material.

The terms “roof sealant” and “roof coating” are used interchangeably to describe the rubber, silicone, polyurethane, or acrylic product applied to the roof’s surface for waterproofing and UV protection. Products like roof caulk can also be called “roof sealant,” but the term is more commonly used for the protective coating.
