"This is only a limited summary. Buyer, especially seniors, BEWARE! Average product, but very poor installation quality and workmanship. BCI-BathPlanet of Indianapolis arrived an hour late without calling, and no return calls from the office, sales rep., or service manager. They damaged three areas of an adjoining wall into another room using a Sawzall. And, they left without telling me. I had to cleanup the paint and drywall debris. The next day they arrived, and I showed they the damage. They admitted they damaged the wall using the Sawzall. I withheld $500 of my payment. It should have been at least $4,000. They promised the following business day, a Monday, they would have someone call to make the repair that day, but they did not show and did not call. When I called their Customer Service, BCI-BathPlanet would not return my calls total of about 20 times. I had to stop by their office twice but they claimed "there was nothing they could do" to make the service manager return calls. They refused to have the owner call me. Our sales rep. used deceptive sales practices by claiming to be a part-owner. The office told me he was not a part owner. When I visited the office they said I could only talk with the service manager. Shower shelves fell off the walls. Caulking was very poor. After almost three months they finally attempted to make some initial repairs. So.e were satisfactory, but others were so bad I had them remove parts of the decorative trim because they said "it was the best they could do"."

No gas. Called Clif but he was too busy to come out, so I called another company, who sent someone today. He discovered the the valve had been taped closed, so the fireplace would have been useless. I was never told of this. Then this service man said the gas line was not installed properly - but we could live with it, but there were no pressure gauges for gas appliances, and that would have to be disclosed if we sold the house. He installed those. I am now $900 poorer. In addition, the wiring that was done is not according to code for the second electrical panel and will have to be redone. That will be even more. Very scary."

But in both cases, a blower test helps confirm that the contractor has sealed the exterior, that the type of ductwork installed is functioning properly, and that your home is as efficient as possible.

When combined with a substantial solar system, if you have enough Powerwalls, you could go off-grid and be energy independent. But remember, you'd need enough Powerwalls to power your whole home continuously because a single Powerwall can’t power large appliances for extended periods. One Powerwall is able to power an average-sized home's emergency circuits, lights, and outlets. To power large appliances, you likely need two or three Powerwalls.

Heat pumps transfer existing heat instead of generating it, using less energy. Compared to baseboard heaters, they can reduce heating costs by up to 50% and provide efficient cooling, lowering electricity bills and carbon footprint.

The best way to save money on home heating oil is to get large deliveries in the summer months when the prices are lowest. However, this method will only work if you have a separate storage tank or an unusually large primary tank. You can sometimes save money by opting into a delivery contract, as some companies offer set prices that they believe will sit at the average cost over the contract term. If the price of oil rises, you could enjoy some savings, but keep in mind that you might also pay a bit more if the price decreases.

A good SEER rating is between 15 and 20. However, if you want the best possible efficiency, look for HVAC units with a SEER rating higher than 21. Keep in mind that the SEER rating doesn’t mean that the unit will reach that efficiency all the time, but it does have the capacity to operate at that high of an efficiency level.
