A rep walking around Lowe’s asked if we would be interested in a “Check up” for our HVAC unit. I thought maybe there’s some parts that can be updated to keep the system running well; we were having no issues. A guy came the same day and told us we had $4,000 worth of repairs to do on our AC unit. The next day, a salesman, who couldn’t even tell me what was wrong exactly, tried to sell me a $11,000 AC unit. Oh, and he agreed to take 40% off if we agreed to do it the next day. Absurd. Called to get a second opinion from a local repair man and he found nothing wrong with the unit. Bottom line, do NOT trust these solicitors. Talk to a local contractor before agreeing to buy a new unit because “it could breakdown in the summer and we don’t do discounts then.” They are trying to make a lot of money off of you. There was nothing wrong with our unit and they made up things to get us to buy a new unit, don’t let that happen to you.

I called this company to come out to give me my “ Free” quote to install my new kitchen sink and faucet they quoted me 1,100!! So I called another company which had amazing reviews they quoted me only 400.00!!! ARS can go fly a kite! Talk about price gouging!!

Wife was quoted/sold $3,400. Amounts to $2,800 labor for a 3 hour job. When we realized how absurd this was we cancelled only to be called back immediately and offered to do the same job for 1/3 the quote. Installer arrived with the wrong water heater, then again with a damaged one. The third attempt was finally acceptable. The installer had a mishap and marred our refrigerator while removing the old heater. Otherwise the installer was a pleasure to work with and cared for our needs. Got the feeling ARS was trying to take advantage.

The service was more than I expected. My service man walked me thru my heating system showing me what the unit should look like the before and after pictures when job was completed. He explained the numbers my system should register. I was then given the checklist sheet with a better understanding of the service I received today.

ARS canceled my first appointment for a furnace checkup with a senior technician. I rescheduled for the next day, and they assured me they were sending a senior technician. They sent an installer instead, who admitted that he was just filling in. He said my heating unit was fine but that my heat pump was having a pressure build up issue. After talking on the phone with his supervisor, I was told that it could blow up and that I would likely need to replace it. He said I would need to put my furnace in emergency heat mode and that I needed to talk with someone named Cindi. He initially gave me her number then said he wasn’t actually allowed to do that and that she would call me. They emailed a blank report for the service call, no mention of the checkup or any problems. Almost immediately, a sales rep (not Cindi) called to set up an appointment for a new heat pump. When I told him that I still needed a senior technician, he said that would be arranged. (Nothing so far.)

I had a clogged kitchen sink and they were able to send someone the next morning. Robert took good care and got the drain open and water freely running again.

In Steve's hands, all went smoothly, expeditiously, and he encouraged me to tackle an even bigger issue while I had my summer break time! He is all about taking care of his customers and is anxious to save them a buck. It is always less with Steve, somehow, at the end of the visit than at the beginning! Magical guy.

The technician, Steven Seckman, provided an estimate on Monday and was installing our new water heater the next day. Great job all around. Needed backup to get the old heater out of the basement and that extra crew was readily available. I highly recommend this provider and technician.

We had a root ball and needed a main line clean out. Lilly, who took our call and arranged the service was extremely pleasant and responsive. Timing for our Saturday emergency was very prompt, just a few hours. Bob was our plumber; he was professional, competent and very thoughtful in his work. His equipment wasn't working, and had to come back with a different machine, which he did within another couple hours. The thing is, it wasn't their fault. When we plugged the equipment into the outside outlet, it blew our kitchen GFCI fuse and THAT'S why the equipment wasn't working. We've used ARS for our almost annual root ball issues and this experience reminds us why. Responsive, competent service with no attempt to upsell, and fair pricing...aces across the board...thanks, guys.

After one use of the air it stop working had tech come out and the compressor was out and they wanted 1255.00 to fix it . I told them I paid 8400.00 hundred dollars to have it put in and I was not going to pay for it they need to make it right because they had a 10 yr warranty on the compressor. Then found out the 1255.00 was for cost of half the unit that had a warranty on it in the first place I should of just bent over and say have at it they are not to be trusted with services and should be put out of business for being dishonest with taking people for there hard working money and I am not done with this company until they make it right.

On July 11, 2019 ARS installed a new blower motor in the Trane furnace. Subsequently on July 11 the Rheem A/C unit stopped working entirely. According to a follow up technician, the blower motor had been installed incorrectly causing blown fuses and a blown capacitor, among other things. The A/C unit was out of service for five days awaiting proper repairs. ARS repeatedly failed to keep its appointments on time during those five days while the temperatures in Indianapolis were extremely hot. In my opinion ARS Rescue Rooter HVAC division is expensive, incompetent, and untrustworthy.

Called ARS to complete the spring A/C tune-up. Technician arrived during time frame scheduled. When technician completed work he told us that the unit was more than 10 years old and likely had a leak in the evaporator coil as the unit was low on refrigerant. Technician provided a written estimate as follows: cost to CHECK for a leak DOES NOT INCLUDE REPAIR-$157.00. Cost to add approximately 2lbs of 410a refrigerant $328.46 and cost to repair evaporator coils-$1,800. Mind you the unit has been working just fine. Declined all services from ARS and tech left house. Called another company for a second opinion. Technician arrived on June 19th. Two technicians responded. Techs spent 45 minutes checking the unit and evaporator coils finding no leak. Technician added refrigerant to the unit. Total cost-$94. $60 for labor and $34 for refrigerant. Technicians found no leaks on unit and told us refrigerant was $17/lb. How ARS came to $328.46 is beyond me. ARS wanted $157 just to LOOK for a leak but the second company did it for $60. Once again yet another HVAC company shows their true colors taking advantage of consumers. There is no reasonable explanation for the pricing ARS quoted us. We will never call ARS for anything again.

Service was scheduled to be done on Friday May 17th. After failing to see or hear from the company, I called them asking when I should expect the technician. I was told that they had skipped me because when they called the phone rang busy. This is incorrect because the number is to a cell phone and it doesn’t ring busy. I was told it was my responsibility to check my missed calls to see if they had attempted to contact me. I asked why they didn’t attempt to call back if the line was busy and was told that is not their practice. Very poor customer service.

I called the scheduling service just before 4 pm to ask when I might expect the service tech; was told that they tried to call me but got a busy signal..... (not true- this is a cell number- if they tried to call it would have shown an incoming call or a missed call. I had neither). I was asked if I wanted to reschedule, I told them no, I had taken the day off to be home today when service was scheduled; Please send technician today. I was told I had been skipped because my phone was busy, he actually told me I should have looked at my missed calls and called sooner... I had NO MISSED CALLS. They lied about calling me. We actually replaced our entire heating/AC system with this company about 5 years ago. Makes me wonder if they would rather do service calls at residences they have the potential of selling new systems to....
