"Had water damage inside house. I had 2 other contractors come out. One said tuck pointing was needed to fix the problem. Other contractor said bay window roof and flashing at the brick and siding transition needed replaced. Boss of 2nd contractor later confirmed tuck pointing was needed and the roof and flashing work was not. Joey was the third person to check out my problem and he said tuck pointing and caulking was needed. He responds very quickly to set appointments for estimates and the actual work. He did a great job. He did not replace some bricks that the other contractor was going to replace, but Joey did the job for half the price. He caulked the 2 cracked bricks to keep water out."

"The worst experience of our life. The Attorney General's office has filed charges July 2018 as well. Here is the full story: He is also now going by Mark Mason, Indiana Custom Builders and a different phone number starting with 317-910- Mark Sellers Nov 2 at 10:27 AM Contractor Mark Sellers (((REDACTED))) Noblesville, IN 46060 Drives a Beige Silverado . Gave him deposit for 1870 on 11/2/17 and he agreed to complete home structure work BEFORE Thanksgiving. As of 12/9 he has stood us up 17 times, taken additional funds when I was out of town by lying to my husband and continued to create more damage to our hours. We only hired him because a different contractor working here told us how great he was and had NO idea he was a scammer. He started to pour a fake lintel that leaked concrete all over our crawl space and was not a real lintel. He then said he was going to lift the house which he never did. Very glad he didn’t as the house would have sustained even more extensive damage since his lintel was fake and you never pour a lintel before lifting a house. [continued below].... Report Attachments: ..... He dug a hole to dig out the old footer but did NOT replace the footer OR the failed corner of the foundation. All evidenced in the crawl space. There is concrete that has leaked all over the crawl space and is not a footer or a lintel. Instead when I started calling incessantly because he never answers his phone and started texting because they dug a hole out front and left it for weeks without any safety tape, etc. he came out and poured 2 small bags of instant set concrete and filled in the hole. He cut out our front step and left the hole and the dangerous setting over the holiday (Thanksgiving). We had an injury going through our Homeowners Ins as it appears he doesn’t have insurance (although he said he did). Even though he was supposed to be done. He had his employees come over stand around, talk and smoke and do nothing to give an appearance of being here. Work never moved forward. While I was out of town on 11/11 after his ONE employee (the only one that did any work) dug the 3-ft deep hole (not deep enough to fix the issue), he told my husband he poured the footers (although they weren’t done) took another 900 and ran off for the weekend. No call, no show, no response. He only answered my texts when I became angry. Then he acted like it was my issue that he took $3k and has done nothing??? The job should be pretty much done by that point and its not. His Quote was BS as he has done NONE of this and our house is still shifting and he has almost $3000 of our dollars. He has similar complaints and a lot of them in Colorado (Longmont/Boulder court), Ohio BBB and now Indiana. Our local Nextdoor online group is blowing up with all the similar situations. Takes the money, doesn’t finish, doesn’t answer his phone and acts like you have no reason to be angry. How do we stop people like him from doing this? We now have another 9k to pay due the house he has destroyed? He poured a FAKE cosmetic lintel that leaked concrete all over the crawl space and is doing absolutely nothing to help with the repair of the house. Caused additional damage to repair to the front step and will now cost additional to fix the bricks on the front of the house that we have not priced out. He said he was trying to do us a favor. The only favor he did was by not lifting the house after he did the additional damage because it would have been even worse. You do not pour a lintel first and then lift the house. NO company would ever do this. Pictures clearly show this shoddy work and NON repair job that he is holding $3k of our money for NOT doing. I NEVER asked for a favor and if this is a favor I’d hate to see what he does when it’s NOT a favor? So these people must also be people he did favors for because we just really didn’t need our hard earned cash and he did? 49K03-1711-SC-006145 (Tim Slabaugh vs Mark Sellers) 29D05-1708-SC-007912 (Young, Jamar vs Mark Sellers) 06D02-1706-SC-000434 (Combs vs Mark Sellers) 29D05-1703-SC-002991 (See vs Mark Sellers) 29D06-1608-CC-006767 (Orahood vs Mark Sellers) 49K07-1410-SC-005458 (Rider vs Mark Sellers) He has done this in Colorado, Ohio and now Indiana (except Indiana continues to let him rack up thousands and damage homes without any recourse). Since he’s a turnip (can’t get blood out of one those.. he just skates on by because he can’t pay anyone back). If he’s going to damage homes, not do the work and not refund then how about we put him in jail so he’s at least off the street? Same deceptive practices in CO: [*** Link removed ***] dailycamera.com/ ci_15230200 (He did lose the case and owes thousands to CO residents) [*** Link removed ***] - This is the copy of the actual judgement against Mark OHIO BBB Issues: Same deceptive practice. "There was a verbal agreement made to remodel our deck to be done 7/8/18. We were told that the deck would be completed in one day. We agreed to purchase all materials and Professional Plus would supply the labor. The agreed upon price was $650. The workers started on 7/8 and got into the demo and realized that the upper post were rotten and should be replaced. We agreed to get the posts and agreed to pay them $100 more for labor. By the end of the day on 7/8, they were not done but were requesting payment. I said I would pay them half, but they said that wasn't enough because they had to pay the owner $150 off the top and still had to pay his other guy. I paid him $500 of the $750. They came back Mon 7/9 and worked for a couple hours and still were not done. They also started using nails instead of screws when we requested screws but said someone else had their drill. Tracy, the lead, said it was getting late and they would have to come back on Tue 7/10. On 7/10 they said they did not have enough materials to finish. I said that I would go get what they needed, but they said they could not stay any longer. We also started pointed out some issues with stairs that they were slanted. He said the 2 stringers we had bought were different sizes. He had informed us earlier in the day regarding this but then said he figured it out so we thought everything was ok but come to find out he proceeded to build the stairs and they ended up be crooked instead of fixing them right. He also did not finish the spindles or framing out the upper portion of the stair railing which left it very unstable and dangerous. I went and got the requested materials that next and text him the next day telling him they were there. He acknowledged the text but that's the last we heard from him. We initially contacted the owner, Frank, on 7/13 and it sounded like he was going to help. We got one follow up text on 7/16 and have not heard anything back even after multiple calls and texts. I do not recommend using this company for any services. Also be aware they operate under multiple company names. R& R, Professional Plus Tree Service and Construction, Robert's Tree Experts and Construction, and Frank's Tree Service."

Fireplace Cleaners questions, answered by experts

The best color to paint a brick fireplace comes down to personal taste. However, neutral colors—like white or gray—will open the space and create a bright modern look, making them popular options. However, choosing a bold color can turn your fireplace into a feature piece that will be the talk of all family gatherings.

A hearth often looks like a tile or brick floor that juts out from and surrounds your fireplace. A hearth can be made of stone, brick, ceramic, or any other fireproof material. Brick offers a classic and traditional vibe, whereas a hearth made of marble or ceramic may lean more toward modern aesthetics. The most common depth of a hearth is 20 inches.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Cracks in the chimney can be very serious, depending on their location and size. Even small cracks can become serious over time if left unrepaired. Cracks allow heat and moisture to deteriorate your chimney and harmful carbon monoxide gas to seep into your home. Small cracks can often be caulked, while large cracked sections may require full replacement.

Knowing who to hire to install your fireplace is important when it comes to having a safe place to burn a fire in your home. The best person to contact for installing fireplaces is a mason or general contractor who has a National Fireplace Institute (NFI) specialist certification. If you’re installing wood paneling, then it’s a good idea to also find a pro who is Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT)-certified.

Both of these certifications show that your pro is well-equipped to install fireplaces and inspect your home for the utmost safety.
