"It took about 4 weeks for them to start work on the project. But to be fair, that was because people were having water problem due to the amount of rain this Spring. Employees were courteous and answered questions. They did leave behind a few items in the crawl space (may not have been from them), but they did say they would clean out all unneeded items from crawl space. They did a good job of cleaning up outer area after completion of job."

"I had an emergency need for service as my well was not providing water. Jason was able to come right away. Because of the fast need, I did not compare prices and have no idea if his price was fair or not. His service and workmanship were good with one exception. He promised to return the next day to clean his mess up. He did not return, and now I have a good pump and fifty feet of pump tubing in my yard, as well as the bad pressure tank in my crawl space. When I try to call him I get the phone not available and message service is full, not able to any take messages. Because I am disabled I will have to pay extra to have someone else finish the job."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

There are many possibilities for why your shower’s water pressure is low. It might be a simple-to-fix issue like the water valves being partially turned off, a dirty showerhead or hose, leaks in the plumbing, or an old showerhead. However, low water pressure in the shower could also indicate a larger issue with your home’s plumbing system.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.

There are several things that can shorten the life of a water softener. Homes with very hard water may have to replace the unit sooner because the water softener works harder to filter out the hard minerals. High water usage and infrequent maintenance can also put more strain on a water softener.

A lower-end water softener would cost around $900, not including installation. Each home has different requirements, water hardness, and number of inhabitants, so there’s a huge range in pricing—$600 to over $6,000. The average water softener repair bill is around $500, meaning it’s a much better option to repair any issues and only replace your softener if absolutely necessary.

No. You should never directly drain a water softener into a sewer cleanout. This practice is illegal in many areas because it could allow raw sewage to get into your drinking water and make you seriously ill. Many places have codes requiring a specific seal, pipe, and a large air gap between a water softener and a sewage cleanout. Check out Florida's Plumbing Building Code as an example of what these restrictions might look like.
