Customers say: Quick response

"Josh was great he took down and put up a new ceiling fan in family room, a new chandelier in dining room, new foyer light. Replaced a dimmer switch and reconfigured a four switch wall switch. He was on time and very thorough. I thought the price was very reasonable. Would definitely hire him again when we need any electrical work done."

"My first time working with them and I will be using them for any other electrical projects I may have in the future! Professional, kind, worked quickly and efficiently, and even came back out to swap out one of my ceiling fans after install when it turned out the light wasn’t working as it should due to a malfunction of the ceiling fan hardware (had nothing to do with their work, the ceiling fan hardware itself that allowed the lights to dim was messed up and after I got a replacement fan and they installed it, it’s up and running beautifully!}. Wonderful service!! 10/10!"

"Very prompt and courteous service. In these times with Covid-19, I am leery about having workers in my home. They came prepared with the proper precautions. I have used them in the past and their service has always been excellent. Great job and value for the money. If you are looking for an electrical service, I would highly recommend them."

"What an absolutely amazing experience! I couldn't be happier with the professionalism, quality, and friendliness of Alpha Electric. I had a complete panel refresh and electricity run to a nearby workshop. The work was completed on time and they communicated well at every step of the process. They will be my first call for my next project."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. Whether you’re looking for a simple grid pattern or want an elaborate, decorative ceiling with all the bells and whistles, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

A typical fan installation takes between two and six hours. The exact timeframe can be influenced by factors such as the home's structure, existing electrical characteristics, ease of attic access, and whether complex wiring or additional attic ventilation work is required.

Ceiling fans require periodic cleaning of blades to avoid dust accumulation, checking screws and connections for firmness, and occasional lubrication for components, keeping the fan running smoothly and quietly over time.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.
