Granite Impressions of Indiana was opened by retired Indianapolis firefighter Paul Sergi in May 2014. After retiring after serving Indianapolis and Perry Township Fire Departments for 27 years, he decided that he wanted to start a business that would be unique and have the ability to grow into a strong family run company. We want to be able to serve our customers with our unique product that you can't find at the Big Box stores. We want to be able to provide quality material that will be stand out above all others, and still give our customers a competitive price. By making all of our material from recycled granite, we are able to produce all of our products right here locally on the Southside of Indianapolis in house, and provide that vision to our customers.

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

Repairing leaks, mold, and cracked tiles will greatly add value to a bathroom remodel; otherwise, potential buyers may ask you to make these repairs. For example, repairing cracked tiles in a bathroom averages $260 to $600. Changing out light fixtures, expanding the shower, adding storage and chrome faucets, and replacing the tile can make the bathroom look new without undertaking a major remodel. Repainting the bathroom walls with a light and neutral color can also make a big impact and appeal to buyers.

You can gut and remodel one room at a time. Though the project will take longer overall, there are a few benefits. First, it limits disruptions and allows homeowners to maintain access to a portion of their home while it’s under construction. It also helps homeowners manage their budgets. Not everyone is ready to remodel the whole house at once, and it may be more feasible to slowly upgrade your home over time.

Home renovation is often less expensive during a recession. Contractors may be willing to give you a deal on labor costs because they’re looking for more work during slow economic times. However, waiting to do a necessary home remodeling project while trying to predict the ebbs and flows of the national economy is overthinking the timing of the project. It’s easier to focus on determining when is the best time of the year to remodel.

A bathroom without a bathtub is called a half bath or powder room. This type of bathroom commonly contains a toilet and a sink and is smaller than a standard bathroom that includes a bathtub or shower. Half baths or powder rooms are commonplace on the first story of a home and are ideal as a guest toilet.

Whether you should buy a shower stall or build a shower depends on your needs, budget, and overall shower design preferences. Prefabricated shower stalls are less expensive to buy and install than custom showers, but they come in limited styles, colors, and sizes. If you have a unique or specific design in mind or special requirements like accessibility features, hire a professional shower contractor. Custom showers installed by a pro can also last longer than prefabricated shower stalls.
