"Had our basement worked on last summer. It’s a 100 yr old house that was holding water and had water seepage in the basement. They came and installed French drains inside and out, put in a sump pump and sealed up some foundation cracks. Work took about four days. We did call them back out a couple times to fix up some minor areas but everything was covered under warranty, and fixes were quick - done in half a day. Overall we are happy with the work — basement is DRY!"

"Fernando and his team installed a french drain and water basins in our yard to help keep water away from our foundation and back porch. He was very communicative, quick to respond and given an estimate, and was done within one day of work. His price was very reasonable! I will definitely reach out to him again if more needs arise!"

"I had a flooded basement due to a storm. In the process also discovered 2 large foundations cracks. After calling in several foundation repair companies Hitman was the only one who took the time to properly diagnose the cause of my flood. Their team then fixed and repaired all of the issues in a day. I am so grateful because this flood was uninsured costs I didn’t want to face again. One of the other companies I had come in to diagnose gave me a $10,000 proposal that wouldn’t have even fixed the problems. Thank you Hitman for running an exceptional business."

"I called Steve Winters tof come and give me an estimate on replacing my water heater. Being busy, he came at 6 P.M. He looked at the situation and gave me a full price for a 40 gallon one installed for 990. That was about 600 dollars less than the lowest of the 5 estimates I already had. I asked when he could do it, he said "now" . He had it done and water heater running by 9. He even replaced a valve because he didn't think it was working right. All this, and a nice guy. Highly recommend to anyone needing plumbing repair or replacement."

"Great service - great install experience - very professional. Came out to quote the project and was the only company that discovered a problem with my gas supply. Even with updating the gas manifold they still had the best price for the same heater installed. Will definitely be calling them for future plumbing projects."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

Yes, you can add a battery to your existing sump pump. There are batteries available that can be plugged into your existing system; however, most battery backups come as a complete system and act as a replacement for your existing sump pump.

The cost to install landscape drainage varies widely based on the scope of the project and the severity of the drainage issues. Typically, this project’s cost falls somewhere between $2,000 and $7,000 overall. Small-scale projects or simple fixes may start at the lower end, while more extensive and complex solutions could reach the higher end of the range. To get an accurate estimate, you should obtain quotes from multiple companies, as they will assess your specific needs and provide a customized cost estimate based on the work required.

Whether to waterproof your basement from the interior or exterior depends on several factors, including your budget.

Exterior waterproofing is generally considered the superior method because it stops water at the source, preventing it from seeping into and damaging your basement walls. This approach offers the most protection, making it ideal if you use your basement for storage.

By contrast, interior waterproofing is often less expensive and requires less labor because the area is more accessible.

For maximum protection against water leakage and moisture, applying waterproofing measures to both the inside and outside is the best solution. However, if you must choose only one, stopping water from the outside is the most effective approach to preserve your foundation and prevent damage.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.
