"Fernando and his team did a fantastic job! I would definitely hire them again. Communication was very prompt. They worked non-stop the entire time they were at the house for 2 days. The results exceeded our expectations. The work performed was: crawl space debris removal, mold remediation, installation of sump pump basin/sump pump/perimeter drain/vapor barrier, and burial of 5 downspouts to divert water away from the foundation (and didn't leave giant mounds of dirt!)."

"Everdry came was able to come earlier than the scheduled date. We had French drains dug outside our foundation and in the crawlspace, dehumidifier and sub pump installed, and the crawlspace encapsulated. The supervisor was very polite and answered all questions during the insulation. All the work was completed in a couple of days. There was some follow up work and it was done in a timely matter. Overall, we’ve been happy with the work."

"I had a flooded basement due to a storm. In the process also discovered 2 large foundations cracks. After calling in several foundation repair companies Hitman was the only one who took the time to properly diagnose the cause of my flood. Their team then fixed and repaired all of the issues in a day. I am so grateful because this flood was uninsured costs I didn’t want to face again. One of the other companies I had come in to diagnose gave me a $10,000 proposal that wouldn’t have even fixed the problems. Thank you Hitman for running an exceptional business."

"I called Steve Winters tof come and give me an estimate on replacing my water heater. Being busy, he came at 6 P.M. He looked at the situation and gave me a full price for a 40 gallon one installed for 990. That was about 600 dollars less than the lowest of the 5 estimates I already had. I asked when he could do it, he said "now" . He had it done and water heater running by 9. He even replaced a valve because he didn't think it was working right. All this, and a nice guy. Highly recommend to anyone needing plumbing repair or replacement."

"While no one wants to have to deal with foundation issues, Indiana Foundation Service made the process as painless as possible. From our free estimate to the end of the work, we couldn't be happier and feel better about the integrity of our home. CJ and Brandon were our assigned crew to install our gutter drain, sump pumps and dehumidifier. They kept us informed throughout the process and treated our home with the same respect that they would their own. They were very professional, knowledgeable and paid attention to every detail. While I hope to never have to use their services in the future, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who has issues with their home's foundation."

"We had dripping water in our garage, coming from the bathroom upstairs. We suspected it was a break in the shower drain pan. We called 2 places that replaced drain pans, and were told by one that we should be prepared for a full shower replacement ($5000), and the other came out and took a look, recommending Hope Plumbing to check out the pipes instead. We were so impressed with Hope Plumbing, who replaced the pipes (the leak stopped!), that we hired them to replace 3 toilets in our house with taller ADA certified ones."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, the air from a damp basement can travel up into your living area through a process called the stack effect, so moisture, mold spores, and other debris in your basement air can all decrease your indoor air quality on your main floors. Additionally, damp basements can promote the rotting of building materials, which can damage flooring, insulation, and framing on your first floor in addition to materials in the basement.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

Not all window wells have a formal drain, but they all require a method for water to flow away from the window. Some wells are connected to an interior or exterior drain tile, which is the most effective solution. Others rely on a deep layer of gravel or crushed stone that allows water to filter down into the soil.

However, if a window well lacks a proper drainage system, it can lead to basement seepage, costly water damage, mold growth, and potential foundation damage. This is especially true in areas with heavy rainfall or expansive soil.

If your window well doesn't have a drain or is not draining quickly enough, you have a few options. For gravel-based systems, the stone may have compacted and needs to be improved. For a more robust solution, you can hire a plumber or window installer to connect the well to a drainage system. This can also be a DIY project using a shovel or auger.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.
