Expect your home insulation project to take between five and 12 hours to complete on average for batts or boards and two to five hours for spray foam or blown-in insulation. These two types of foams are similar chemically, but they are applied in a much different way and each has its own pros and cons. Depending on the item, several different materials are beneficial for long-term storage. Bubble wrap and plastic wrap help ensure delicate ceramics or furniture are safe and secure. High-quality moving boxes made of durable materials like plastic also help ensure the longevity of your storage, as cardboard will degrade faster over time.

Freeze-proof faucets can still benefit from insulation, and they will need covers if you live somewhere with extremely cold winter temperatures. These faucets work with a design that keeps excess water in the pipes inside the home to minimize the risk of freezing, plus a downward slope for any water flowing through the pipes to keep moving. But keeping a cover on all faucets, even freeze-proof fixtures, is the best way to avoid frozen and burst pipes.
