"The owner of USA Insulation, Mark Owens, and his associate spent over an hour inspecting every nook and cranny of my 2800 Sq. Ft. two story home. After which, Mark spent a lot more time reviewing the current situation regarding my home's insulation. Then he thoroughly explained what needed to be done to correct the situation I was so impressed with his knowledge and professionalism and explanation of options. In the end, I decided that the one or two more years I intended to be in this home was not worth the investment. I suggested a partial and less expensive fix that would have resulted in a contract for him. Instead of taking my money, he explained why this would not fix the issue in the coldest room in the house and why it would not be a wise investment for me. I have great respect for his integrity and would recommend him as a professional of the highest caliber. If I should decide not to move in a few years, I will be calling USA Insulation, Mark Owens."

"Mike and his team are excellent to work with. My project started off as a fairly small bathroom and furnace room remodel, but grew into a major whole house remodel as unseen problems with our home were discovered. Mike and his team were willing and able to handle everything we threw at them, and were flexible enough to adapt to our growing list of needs. They are prompt, dependable, professional, responsive, and a whole lot of fun on top of that. Their prices are very fair and reasonable. And they are pretty much capable of handling any home remodeling or handyman project, indoors or out, including help with moving items into storage pods when our project required that too. I would recommend them and will definitely hire them again myself in the future."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Spreading tin foil over your windows works similarly to radiant barrier insulation, but not as well. It will reflect some of the sunlight that would otherwise come through the glass and warm up the inside of your home, so it might help a little to keep your home cool in the summer. However, the appearance isn’t preferable to blinds or drapes that can offer the same benefits. You might also consider tinting your windows instead, which is a more aesthetically pleasing change that can still block a good portion of the solar heat coming through your windows.

Experts use advanced techniques and tools to assess existing insulation levels and identify gaps. They implement strategic placement of new insulation to ensure complete coverage, optimizing thermal resistance and energy efficiency.

Not necessarily. A higher R-value simply means that the insulation has a higher heat resistance and performs better in terms of how much heat passes through the material. This can be better for some homes, or it can be too high of an R-value for other homes. Again, your climate zone determines whether the insulation is better for your home.

The best R-value for home insulation depends on where you live and where you’re installing the insulation. Your climate zone plays the biggest role in determining the correct R-value, so be sure to know which zone you live in when determining the R-value you need.

Yes, insulating hot water pipes helps your system run more efficiently. This is especially true in basements in colder climates, where cold air likes to settle in. There are a few ways to insulate water pipes (foam is common) to keep hot water hot, reducing the need for your water heater to constantly heat the water in the tank or your circulator to kick on more than necessary.
