"I just had my insulation installed two days ago and so far I’ve noticed a big difference. I hate to say it, but I’m almost looking forward to it getting a little colder so I can really determine the difference. The installers that came to my home were very professional and friendly. They took pictures and they were finished and explained what they did. They even informed me of an issue with my furnace intake pipe, which I really appreciated. Yes, spray foam insulation can be applied to your ductwork and effectively insulate your ducts. Blanket insulation is the easiest insulation product to DIY since it is easy to wrap around ducts. However, spray foam insulation can also benefit your HVAC system if applied to air ducts.

Spray foam insulation doesn’t do well around heat sources. Therefore, You can use spray foam insulation to seal around HVAC boots that penetrate through the drywalls or around where wrapped ducts connect to the boots, but we don’t recommend using spray foam insulation to encapsulate your air ducts. Spray foam insulation on air ducts is also less effective compared to duct wraps.
