"Outstanding service. Emailed to request a quote on Sunday night and we had an estimate by Monday and as soon as we approved the estimate, they started on removing the trees. My wife and I had also done some clean-up of smaller trees and yard debris on our own and Flynn's disposed of it for us for no additional charge. All of our work was completed as soon as they were able to get Julie to come out and mark utilities. After the trees were removed, they did a great job cleaning up the yard and you could hardly tell we had trees removed at all. Hard-working, professional, pleasant and prompt. No complaints and will definitely call again or refer to friends for any future work."

He is knowledgeable about all the needs to be done with the general business aspect as well. He pointed out issues with the Redbud tree that I didn't ask about and put it in the estimate at a steeply discounted price. He seemed to impress my mother in law with his businesslike manner. Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

It may be possible, but transplanting a large, mature tree can be a tricky project, and some trees handle it better than others. However, felling even small trees can be dangerous, and it’s always advisable to have a spotter on hand. This will help make sure the tree doesn’t fall the wrong way or that branches aren’t about to fall on you while you’re working.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.
