"We recently replaced our Heating & Cooling system with a energy efficient furnace & air-conditioning unit. We knew what we wanted, so I received bids from 4 different suppliers, receiving bids for a apples to apples comparison. All-Temp was by far the best pricing. Our installation process went flawlessly & the installers answered any question that I had. They came back out to our home per my request on a couple more occasions, to adjust the amount of time the 2 stage system ran. Everyone that we have dealt with has been extremely professional, courteous & knowledgeable. We just received a clean & check of our system & Jen our technician met each of those attributes. I would highly recommend All-Temp for any of your heating or cooling needs. Herb Pitzman Huntley, IL"

"I had a great experience with their HVAC services. They repaired my electrical baseboard heater quickly and made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving. The team was professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable. They also installed our new central A/C system smoothly with no issues at all. Communication was clear throughout the process, and the pricing was fair. Highly satisfied with the quality of work and customer service. I would definitely recommend them for any heating or cooling needs."

"Dave and Brian did a great job installing my new AC unit and cleaning my ducts yesterday. They were knowledgeable and efficient and they cleaned up before they left. The cost was very competitive....Dave actually gave me a break on the duct cleaning because we have so many vents! I HIGHLY recommend Perfect Temp for duct cleaning and AC installation."

"When our air-conditioning went out during a stretch of 90 plus degree weather, Jeff answered our call and came out the same day to fix our unit! He also followed up to ensure we were satisfied with his service. We could not be more pleased with his service!"

"I talked to Nick who was good enough to send a technician out the very same day that I scheduled the service. The technician, Dan, was very prompt, thorough and friendly. He cleaned and sanitized 10+ vents, HVAC system, returns, supply lines, main line, and the dryer vent which was on the roof. A lot of Groupon deals that I looked around for have up-charges for the requirements that I had, particularly since I live in a 3rd floor walk-up in the city. With Lowe's the price that was quoted was the price that I got! I will definitely use their services again!"

"After a few years of using other heating and cooling businesses I found Keith, he was always on time and ready to work. We had a few issues with our boiler system that was getting up in age and he said he could fix it but it may only last a couple years so we decided to just replace it. Keith gave us a great quote and was again prompt and thorough on installing the new boiler. We were so happy with him that when we needed AC work he was the first one we called, which we ended up getting a new AC unit as well as it was old and could have been serviced over and over again but now the new ones are more efficient and almost pay for themselves. So when our water heater went out there was only one person to call, Keith was here as usual, quick and clean and no issues. Now we call and have both serviced regularly by him and no more problems and can rely on his work to keep us comfortable in our home. Call Keith if you donâ t want to worry about your homeâ s systems you wonâ t regret it."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

To make the most out of your AC, consider implementing the following best practices:

  • Choose the right size AC for your home to ensure your unit runs as efficiently as possible.

  • Choose a window with shade, as direct sunlight can cause your AC unit to overheat.

  • Clean or replace the filter at least every two months.

  • Inspect the AC’s fan and straighten it if necessary.

  • Discontinue use immediately if you suspect a malfunction, as running the AC while broken can lead to significant issues.

  • Turn off (or adjust the temperature) when you leave the house.

Yes, ventless portable air conditioners exist, and not all standard portable air conditioners must be vented through a window.

Ventless portable units, often called evaporative coolers, do not have exhaust hoses. They use a water reservoir and a cooling pad to add moisture to the air, making it feel cooler. These units work best in dry climates because humid areas cannot absorb much additional moisture.

For standard portable air conditioners that do require venting, a window is not the only option; they can also be vented through a door, wall, or ceiling. However, it is essential to vent these units properly. Running a standard portable AC without venting it is counterproductive because it needs to expel heat to cool the room. Failing to do so will only increase the room's temperature.

It depends on the size of the space you’re cooling down. If you’re looking for the most affordable way to cool an entire house over a long period of time, then central air will be more cost-effective. But when it comes to cooling down a couple of rooms or one floor, a window unit may be the cheaper option, with both a lower cost to install and less energy used to run.

Yes, it’s important to turn off your AC sometimes to give it a break and prevent it from freezing up. If your AC runs all the time, your system’s parts will wear down quicker, which may mean that you need to replace it sooner. Plus, using your AC constantly uses more electricity and leads to higher energy bills.

Yes, you can put an AC unit on the roof of your home or commercial building. For proper installation, you’ll need to ensure the roof surface is flat, it’s accessible for maintenance and cleaning, and an AC installation pro agreed that your home is a candidate for package units. Don’t forget to consider the climate in your area, as homes that experience frequent tropical storms or hurricanes may not benefit from this type of system.
