"It was fine. They did what they were supposed to do. It took a little longer than expected because they had a new worker but I couldn't be mad about that because they have to train new people. They did a good job. If they are going to send somebody brand new, they should have sent two experienced workers. They were honest and fair."

"The work was completed12/17/10. I sent payment shortly thereafter. To date I have not received the post air sample results, copy of guarantee or any acknowledgment from from Guardian. I called Candy Harris and have no return call from her. I know it is the holidays but I still deserve some contact from calls and payment. I am going to attempt to contact them today. I am trying to refinance my home and this lack of communication is slowing the process beyond the deadline set by State Farm. I receive daily communication from State Farm and am upset I'm getting nothing from the people who did the work. I have questions that go unanswered"

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

When hiring in Springfield, prioritize professionals with certifications in mold remediation and experience with local building types, especially older homes and basements common in the area. They should use HEPA filtration, moisture meters, and clear containment strategies. Confirm they carry proper insurance and understand Springfield’s seasonal moisture patterns, which affect both testing accuracy and remediation success.

Helpful?

In Springfield, homeowners should account for the city’s high humidity during summer, frequent rainstorms, and the potential for basement flooding, all of which can increase indoor moisture and mold risk. Older homes in Springfield often have less effective moisture barriers, making crawl spaces and basements more vulnerable. Scheduling projects in spring or fall helps avoid peak humidity, and reviewing your insurance for mold exclusions is also wise.

Helpful?

In Springfield, immediate action is needed if you see extensive mold growth, smell strong musty odors, or if anyone in your home has asthma or allergies. Mold found after flooding or on structural wood should not be delayed. For small, contained spots or routine air quality checks, you may schedule work for drier months to minimize moisture issues and improve ventilation during the project.

Helpful?

In Springfield, be cautious of quotes that seem unusually low or lack detail about the scope of work, as these may skip essential steps like moisture control or post-remediation air quality testing. Avoid companies that rush you to sign or don’t provide written estimates. If a provider offers both testing and remediation without clear separation, or lacks local references, consider it a warning sign.

Helpful?

In Springfield, visible black, green, or white patches, persistent musty odors, or unexplained allergy symptoms often signal the need for mold testing and remediation. If you notice water stains, bubbling paint, or damp drywall, check for leaks or drainage issues first. When the source is unclear, a certified local inspector familiar with Springfield’s climate can help identify whether you need mold services or another type of repair.
