"Bruce Deloney did a magnificent job mounting my 65 inch television and soundbar. His work is very meticulous and polite. One of the best handymen I've ever met. He's very reasonably priced. I highly recommend Bruce to anyone who needs to hire for a project to be done."

"Their name says it all. I initially hire a different handyman who kept cancelling, not showing up and making excuse after excuse. I then turned to Matthew at Reliable Handyman Services and what a stark contrast. He answered the phone every time, showed up as promised, did outstanding work at a very fair price and completed the job on time. We couldn't be more pleased! Thank you Matt!"

"The pictures do not really show how tedious this job was. These two men, associated with Ask Michael, gave me a quote to rehang a number of my kitchen cabinate doors. They had been badly done prior to my purchase of the house and were failing, to the point of falling off. They purchased the necessary hardware, came back the next day and did the installation. They were on time and worked until the job was finished. Their work quality and concern to get the work done correctly was top drawer. And they were honest, telling me the quote for materials was high, and revising their bill lower. Overall I was very happy and will use them again."

"Exploring for home maintenance work, I tapped into Angis List and contacted two suggested service companies. Oreo was prompt to contact me for details on the job. He pursued an onsite visit and noted all concerns followed by a same day bid by email. I received followup calls over a period of 3 months, finally determining to complete the projects in October 2024. Once the decision was confirmed, the project specialist reviewed the list of work on site the same day the contract was signed. My home was scrapped and painted, shutters removed and repainted, along with repairs to the eves, replacement of porch light frames and restoration of a desperately deilapidated fence. Communication and integrity are earmarks of this service agency. Both the contractor and the worker completing the project, were consistent in keeping me informed of the project and pursuing my approvals as the work progressed. The work quality was exceptional. I would recommend Oreo Maintenance without hesitation, Great Job Guys, reminiscent of the past 2 generations of pride taken in the craft and the job. Always put your name on your work. Thanks!"

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

In Springfield, common mistakes include skipping required permits from the Springfield Building and Zoning Division, using materials not rated for local weather, and neglecting to hire licensed professionals for regulated work. Homeowners sometimes underestimate project complexity or overlook local code requirements, which can lead to failed inspections or safety hazards. Always verify permit needs and consult local authorities before starting any handyman project.

Helpful?

In IL, winter freeze-thaw cycles cause frost heave, making posts lean even when the wood is perfectly sound. This requires resetting the footing rather than traditional mailbox repair. Sudden, severe damage from a city snowplow requires a different process, as you should file a municipal damage claim instead. Additionally, clay-heavy soils cause gradual sinking, which points to a foundation issue rather than a deteriorating post.

Helpful?

In Springfield, DIY handyman projects can save money and offer flexibility, but tackling electrical or plumbing work without proper permits from the Springfield Building and Zoning Division can result in fines or failed inspections. Hiring a licensed local professional ensures compliance with Springfield's codes and regulations, reducing risk. Consider your experience, the project's complexity, and local permit requirements before deciding which approach is best.

Helpful?

Completing mailbox repair in IL primarily preserves your home's resale appeal rather than significantly increasing its appraisal value. Local buyers value strong curb appeal, and a well-maintained mailbox creates a positive first impression. In historic neighborhoods, period-appropriate mailboxes protect your property's aesthetic premium. Furthermore, fixing a damaged mailbox ensures compliance with USPS delivery standards and strict HOA regulations, preventing delays or disclosures during a real estate transaction.

Helpful?

Tackling mailbox repair in Springfield impacts several hidden home systems. Digging a new post hole risks striking underground utilities, so you must call 811 before digging. Work near the curb also damages shallow irrigation lines common on the city's west side. If your mailbox connects to a lighted post or brick pillar, repair work directly affects your low-voltage electrical wiring or the structural integrity of the connected masonry.
