"Marcus was the crew leader and along with his team of Dylan and Don raised my house up to level and set me up with a sump pump and dehumidifier under my house so that I no longer live on a pond. They were timely and efficient and I'm thrilled to be confident in the structural stability of my home"

"Our basement wall had settled over five inches.  They piered the front basement wall and brought it back up to level.  The basement wall was beyond repair.   They cut a section of the back basement wall and demolished the entire back wall and poured me a new basement back wall.  Great job guys!!!

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

For maintaining leveled concrete in Springfield, keep polyurethane-based crack filler on hand to address movement from local clay soils. Annually apply a quality concrete sealer before winter to protect against freeze-thaw damage. You should also have concrete-safe ice melt (calcium or magnesium chloride) and a 4-foot level to monitor for any new settlement. These supplies help you manage issues between professional services.

Helpful?

In Springfield, IL, watch for cracks that widen after rain, as this signals water infiltrating the expansive clay subsoil. Progressive settling or seasonal shifting between summer and winter are also red flags caused by local freeze-thaw cycles. If you notice water pooling near the slab or stair-step cracking in foundation walls, a small issue is likely becoming a major problem requiring professional attention.

Helpful?

The climate in Illinois significantly affects concrete leveling. With 40 to 60 freeze-thaw cycles annually, concrete slabs are under constant stress, causing movement and cracking. The state's 42-inch frost line means soil shifts deeply during winter. Heavy spring rains saturate the expansive clay soil common in the region, leading to swelling and heaving, while summer droughts can cause it to shrink and settle.

Helpful?

For a smooth concrete leveling project in Springfield, IL, plan work between May and September to avoid freeze-thaw cycles. Before starting, contact JULIE to locate underground utilities and assess drainage, as Springfield’s clay-heavy soil requires careful water management. Choosing polyurethane foam injection is often best for these local soil conditions. Also, check for permit requirements with the City of Springfield Building Department.

Helpful?

Professionals in Springfield, IL prioritize concrete leveling by first addressing safety hazards, like public trip risks or slabs sloping toward a home’s foundation. Next, they focus on preventing water infiltration into basements, which is critical due to the area's clay soil. High-traffic driveways and walkways are also a high priority, while repairs to decorative concrete are typically addressed last unless they pose a safety concern.
