"Angel and Tyler worked their butts off to help us with our air conditioning. They unfortunately had to do way more work than expected, however they were at our house late and always stayed in communication on what was going on. They did a great job and were very detailed and thorough with all testing making sure that the job was done right and there were no issues. We had a great experience!"

"Austin, Orin and James were great to work with. Due to raccoon damage to the attic insulation and ceiling drywall all old insulation needed to be removed and contaminated areas treated. They installed new soffit baffles between each pair of rafters, sealed all potential air leakage points (e.g. around can light fixtures), ran all new insulated bath fan ducts (4) to soffit mounted valved vents and blew in all new insulation. Cost was very reasonable. Overall excellent value. Austin provided my insurance company with all necessary information so the claim was quickly settled to my satisfaction. Highly recommend Greenlink Energy Solutions."

Air Conditioning FAQs, answered by experts

If your central AC is not blowing cold air, you should try resetting the system. Many systems have a reset button. Make sure your thermostat is off, then turn off the circuit breaker that powers your AC. Hold the reset button for three to five seconds, then turn the circuit back on. Set your thermostat to cool and choose a temperature cooler than the room. Your system should turn on quickly.

For the most part, you should leave your AC fan in “auto” mode so that it only runs during a heating or cooling cycle. Keeping it in this position uses less energy, which equals lower utility bills. However, there are some situations where it’s better to leave your AC fan on, including if you have allergies or there are lots of people in your home.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

Not if you have a standard unit. Because portable AC units actually work to dehumidify the room, you’ll likely need to drain the unit from time to time—but you won’t have to put water into it. There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. But a swamp cooler is different from a standard portable AC unit.

Traditional central air conditioning systems require ductwork to circulate air throughout the home. Alternatively, you can add air conditioning with a mini-split ductless air conditioning system, which can be just as energy efficient as a central air conditioner. This type of system consists of two units–an outside unit that holds the compressor and condenser and an indoor unit that holds an air-handler. With multi-zone ductless systems, there are multiple indoor air handlers tied to a single outdoor compressor/condenser, allowing the system to cool multiple rooms.
