"SP Fence installed my front and side fence. They quoted me a great price and, more importantly, they spent a lot of extra time making sure they got it just right, and the quality surpassed my expectations. I am picky, and this company delivers."

"Just want to say that Semoore Fencing was phenomenal to work with. Everything from the timeline to the work was impeccable. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a new fence. I went with the wood grain horizontal vinyl and it looks beautiful"

"

I got them off Angie's List and they were great! They were in my area and they had the highest rating. I talked to three fence people al off Angie's List and they were the only ones that would actually do it. One company, they advertise that they do off Angie's List but they said they don't do aluminium fencing. They came out and looked but said 'we really don't do aluminium fencing". The other one said they don't do it- over the phone. I Guess they had no time. I know North West Is a very large company but they came out and did excellent. They did some wonderful work. They are quick and neat. They did a great job.

"I requested an estimate from several companies. For most companies this was a small job. After talking to 6 firms, I was able to only get 2 estimates. Faitfhful Fence's quote was almost 1/2 the price from the other company. After a few more follow-up questions (Alex was incredibly responsive on the phone and through e-mail), we hired Faithful Fence. I applied for the permit and they started work the same day the permit was approved. After the village inspected the depth of the post holes, work was completed the following day. They took away the old section of fencing and the dirt piles. Additionally there's a shrub that is close to the fence and they worked around that as well. They matched my existing fence . It was a very professional job. I would recommend them and hire them again."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The standard height for a split rail fence is three or four feet. This height requires two to three horizontal rails, making it ideal for homeowners wanting a budget-friendly split rail fence. If you’re hoping to contain agile livestock or animals like dogs, geese, or goats, you may prefer to install a six-foot tall fence with four or five rails or a four-foot-tall fence with three horizontal rails. This will help prevent animals from climbing, crawling, or jumping through the rails.

Yes, in many cases, homeowners insurance covers the cost to repair or replace a fence. Home insurance policies typically protect your home and other structures on your property, which often includes fences. If the fence is damaged by a covered event, such as a storm, fire, or vandalism, your insurer may cover some or all of the cost. However, coverage does not extend to damage caused by natural wear and tear, owner negligence, insufficient maintenance, or improper installation.

Split rail fencing is a type of post and rail fencing. Other post and rail fences include corral board and post and dowel. Post and rail fencing is the term used for any type of fence with vertical posts, horizontal rails, and nothing else (specifically excluding pickets). So, technically, a split rail fence is a post and rail fence.

Yes, in most places. A front yard fence is allowed by local zoning laws more often than not, but it always helps to check before building just to make sure. There may be restrictions around how tall the fence can be, what it can be made from, or where it can be built.

A silt fence should be buried in a trench that is 6 to 12 inches deep. A depth of at least 6 to 8 inches is necessary to prevent water and sediment from running underneath the fence. A deeper trench, up to 12 inches, provides better anchoring during wet and windy weather. To ensure proper installation, look for a red line on the silt fence fabric, which often indicates the correct burial depth. Always adhere to local guidelines and regulations; a professional contractor will be familiar with these requirements.
