Chicago & North Suburban Handyman LLC is an owner-operated handyman business run by Jaime Gutierrez. I've been a handyman to some degree my whole life. Since I was a kid, my parents were landlords, so I was always replacing stuff, painting, switching and swapping, building or demo'ing. My very first job was at a hardware store when I was 14 years old. I learn a bunch of cool stuff there that I still use to this day. I went to college and tried working in an office after graduating, but I never enjoyed what I was doing. I knew I could do some pretty cool stuff with my hands power tools. So I went into residential maintenance. I worked as a technician and supervisor for multiple 500-unit apartment complexes. Now I've taken the leap and am running my own show. We hired Jaime to remove a door + frame and dry wall and paint the area afterwards— the door was a very bizarre door that led to the master bedroom closet. Jaime and his helper also assisted us with hanging two large items. Their work on all three tasks was flawless and so reasonably priced. Moreover, Jaime was incredibly friendly, thoughtful, considerate, punctual and reliable. "I do not recommend this company. In the beginning, there was good communication. The cleaning was scheduled for 10am. I received a text at 8:30 "I have an eta of about 10:20-10:30. I am training new staff at a commercial account I have and it?s taking longer than expected. I hope this is ok please let me know. Thank you" They arrived around 11:30 and left at 1:30. The cleaning was ok. A lot of details were missed. The bathroom sinks were barely wiped out. And outside the shower area looks like it wasn?t even touched. The biggest issue was the undisclosed water spill from a glass left on the nightstand. I discovered it at 9:30pm when l was going to bed and there was water under my reading lamp on the nightstand. Soaking water was under the base of the floor lamp tower next to the nightstand, under the nightstand, and soaked into 2 boxes next to it. When I informed the owner about my concern, she denied that the spill happened! I do not recommend this company."
