"This company did a wonderful job fixing my ceramic tile floor after some sewer work had to be done. He cut the tiles precisely, matched the exact same pattern, and everything was left spotless. He remained patient with us while there were some questions that we had. His attention to detail while cutting ceramic tile at a precise point was amazing."

"Great job, professional, beautiful work at a reasonable price. Made my 100 year house that much bettet- Vince and crew laid slate tile in my kitchen, back hallway and bathroom. They went way above and beyond the original job spec. moved gigantic 8 burner stove (twice), moved fridge, replaced underlayment under toilet, r& r toilet and dishwasher, rebuilt custom cabinet for dishwasher...and so much more. The slate tile was a bear to lay- many cuts and the 'real' stuff so none of it exactly the same. Would recommend him and hire again given the need."

"Sam and his team were professional, attentive and on-time. Their M.O. was definitely all about the satisfied customer. They were collaborative, and offered valuable suggestions (with reasoning) based on their experience. When the tile store sent the wrong tiles, Sam drove me to Floor & Decor to help me select another tile. Sam genuinely wanted to be sure I was happy with all three projects (kitchen backsplash, entryway and fireplace). Sam and Mark even worked on the weekend so we could meet my deadline, even though the project was delayed b/c of tile snafu. I highly recommend Sam and Glenview Tile. Wish I could give 6 stars."

"Raymond is very professional and is excellent at responding and communicating. I have a small galley kitchen and he had the doors detached and the cabinets painted within a day. Took away all meaterials. Then came a second day for a final coat and attach new doors. I was really impressed and it was a great value."

"Daniel is the best contractor my wife and I have worked with in twenty-five years of home remodeling. We hired him for our ceramic tile floor installation, and we were so happy with his work that we hired him and his crews for all our remodeling needs. The best."

"From start to finish this job was done professionally and the results prove my point. Despite having contracted for this pre-COVID, Kirke and his team worked with me to install the floor after our out-of-town relatives returned to their home. No questions asked and all changes were cheerfully accepted. That's unusual. The Armstrong pre-finished oak flooring is a dream come true. As someone who has lived through floor refinishing multiple times, I can attest to how simple and cleanly this flooring was installed. No fine dust everywhere, no chemical smell. Just one (day) and done! In addition to Kirke's helping us to choose the right flooring for our needs, FCI's team of installers were spectacular! Hats off and many thanks to everyone for a job well done!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

You can put hot pans on porcelain countertops. Porcelain is highly resistant to heat—it’s manufactured at around 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, so it can withstand a ton of heat without cracking or damaging. Even though the high heat is a plus, you should still be cautious when putting hot surfaces on porcelain countertops.

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.
