"Requesting a quote from and then hiring Illinois Tree Service was quick and easy. Their quote was the same as another large operation in town, but they didn't need to bring massive equipment into the yard as the other company had in the past. A large crew of men worked safely and efficiently for about six to seven hours to remove both old cottonwoods and grind their stumps. They cleaned up beautifully as they worked and left the yard free of sticks and branches. I would highly recommend them."

"Last week I needed 2 of the stumps dug out deeper I called Steve,he gave me his brothers name,Mark who does the stumps.I called him I Steve Briggs to trim my six ash trees,he came out to look and said lets hold off till fall incase the ash borer got them(he didn't want me waste my money),sure enough 2 months later the ash borer killed them and the township cut them down.He saved me a lot of $$$.What a honest man.
to do the regrindscalled and he gave me a price to do them for $50.00 each, what a great price! He came out on time did the regrinds and cleaned up.Great service. Will use again.
By the way,Steve told me about Jim's Trees In Beecher for nice trees at a fraction of the cost of a landscape store.

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In the case that a tree is growing directly on your property line, the cost of maintaining the tree is shared and is the property of both owners in common. In this case, all decisions regarding the maintenance of the tree must be made jointly, and both parties must agree on a course of action. You will need to agree with your neighbor about the cutting of any roots before you carry it out, and your neighbor must also consult with you before doing any trimming. Coming to an agreement with your neighbor about any shared trees ahead of necessary trimming and maintenance will make this process much simpler.

The best pro to hire for spraying trees is a tree maintenance specialist. These pros are well-versed in selecting the right spray treatment and applying it properly to ensure there’s no collateral damage to the tree or surrounding landscape. Many tree maintenance services employ certified arborists, but for these routine visits, the extra investment usually isn’t necessary.

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.

Cutting down a tree next to power lines is never a DIY job, and it’s a good idea to contact your utility company first. In most cases, the utility company will need to take care of any tree problems within 10 to 15 feet of power lines. If you want to remove the tree for aesthetic reasons, hire a pro to do the job. Trying to cut trees near power lines yourself can create many safety hazards, and you could be liable if you inadvertently cause damage to electrical equipment.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.
