"Our project was to extend our roof over the exiting patio. Darin was the general contractor as he, as well as all the individual contractors he employed, were considerate and friendly. They all were tidy and tried to make their work as unobtrusive as possible. We made a few changes as the project progressed and they were very accommodating. An important goal was to make the addition look as if it were built with the original house...and they did! With flying colors!!"

"Customer service was wonderful! The crew was prompt and courteous, and I feel they went above and beyond to make sure we were pleased with our project. They removed old brick edging and a ton of lava rock. They then graded sections that needed it, and installed a new brick edge beautifully, followed by sheeting and new rock. Highly recommend!!"

A lanai is a covered patio with open walls, while a Florida room has sides made of mesh screens or windows, with or without partial low walls. In addition, lanais often use concrete or other patio flooring, while Florida rooms may have more indoor-style flooring like tile or wood. Both allow you to enjoy the outdoors without being in the direct sun, but a lanai doesn’t offer any barrier against insects or debris.

Building a sunroom is usually less expensive than the cost of building a home addition, but it depends on the type of sunroom. A four-season sunroom will cost more than a home addition because it’s basically a home addition with larger, more expensive windows. All other types of sunrooms will be more affordable than a home addition of an equivalent size because they don’t have insulation, heating, cooling, electrical connections, or plumbing.

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.
