4Ever Remodeling has earned a stellar reputation for delivering stress-free, high-quality home remodeling projects to homeowners in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. With a proven system refined through over two thousand projects, we've become known as The Remodeling Machine — a company where expert design consultants, skilled interior designers, dedicated project managers, and experienced installers work together like clockwork. Our streamlined process ensures every kitchen, bathroom, basement, or whole-home remodel is completed on time, on budget, and backed by a comprehensive warranty. With creative designs and detailed installation, we build beautiful, functional spaces that meet customers expectations.
"Overall very happy with our experience with 4Ever Remodeling. They took our completely unfinished 1920s basement and created an in-law suite with extra-large bath. They were great at handling the City of Chicago permit process, which was one of my biggest concerns. Work included: Rebuilding basement stairs (sturdiest stairs I've ever seen). Adding a full bath with jetted tub, two-person shower, tile, all new plumbing including ejector pump. New exterior windows to comply with egress codes (really impressed with the exterior brickwork - you can't tell at all that any changes were made. They matched the grout and design perfectly). Installation of a large wet bar with dishwasher, shelving, quartz counters and cabinetry. Cabinets are very high quality. HVAC for basement and they extended the AC throughout first floor as well. Lighting, flooring, drywall, insulation etc. Highlights: Particularly impressed with their carpenter who did gorgeous, perfectly aligned work. Their designer, Magda was very helpful in guiding us and helping make selections (we've never done a project anywhere near this scope before). Communication was very clear and responsive. Workspace was immaculate at the end of every day. As with any project of this size there were a few nits: Their electrical team was slow to address a few concerns the inspector had and they disabled an outlet on the first floor. Granted, they were given an absolute trash mess of wiring to start out with. Also, the bathroom painter did not cover the tub when painting the ceiling, and I had to spend some time scraping flecks of paint off with a credit card. Those minor issues aside, I feel confident the project was done right, everyone that sees it absolutely gushes about the result, and I'm jealous that my in-law kitchen and bath are nicer than my own on our first floor! I'd definitely use 4Ever again (and in fact are considering a second project right now)."

I've been in business in Chicago for 40 years, completing projects in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. No job is too small: I've done bathroom renovations and dormer additions. I've also done complete custom homes as well as large and small additions. Last year I completed an addition in Wheaton, a complete residential renovation in Glen Ellyn, a wall repair project for a telecom company near Green Bay, WI, and other projects. Your project is the most important project to me!
"Wonderful plans and professional work done 100%!"

We are architects that design projects using everyday functional logic, and make sure that the design is aesthetically pleasing. After the initial on site consultation, all clients are presented with a detailed proposal that states a detailed scope of work, a fixed lump sum fee, a time frame to complete the work, an associated payment schedule based on work completion milestones. All projects include unlimited design meetings and design revisions to assure client satisfaction. We work on any size projects from complete new home design to interior remodels, kitchen remodels to master bath remodels. We offer additional architectural services such as all structural calculations and permit expediting acting as the client's agent handling all communications with the village or city. Do you have a design and just need a permit to start work? We can do this also for a reasonable lump sum fee to get your permit approved quickly. All projects completed timely and all expectations are clearly stated so there are no surprises!
"Seamlessly. Steve took care of everything and made the process painless. He was very thorough and kept us up to date on the permit process. Hire him. He won't disappoint."

Anix, Inc. is a General Contractor and a family owned, operated, designed and built company for Illinois. We pride ourselves in High Quality Craftsmanship from New Construction to Remodeling to Handyman services. When we come out to your home to give you an estimate, we will speak to You regarding your thoughts and ideas and then design a custom layout for You. Unlike a big company, where you deal with a salesman, who has no real construction experience, then deal with an array of others, you are not familiar with, and who may not fully understand your ideas, I will stay on the job until it is finished to your satisfaction, being done properly and in a timely manner. I will not tolerate anything, but quallity from the people, who work for my company. We use just licensed subcontractors. Since we are a small company you will pay less with us. We don't have any large overheads. You will receive high quality craftsmanship at a lower cost to you. On a typical job, you can save up to 30% the same work at a more affordable cost. And because we are a small company, you may have to wait a week or two for a construction starting date. The sooner you schedule your free estimates and make your decision, the sooner we can begin working. We're located in a Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. We're Licensed, Bonded and Insured. Your satisfaction is my goal and your happy smile, when you see the finished project, is what I strive for. Please, feel free to contact us with any questions or for an additional information. http://www.anixbuilders.com
"Our project turned out beautiful! I want to preface this by saying this was not the first time we used Joe (Anix) for a home project. Two years ago we hired him to update a house our son had purchased. We we so impressed with his work then (I did write a review for that job), that we immediately thought of him when we purchased this downsize house for us. When he came out to see the house, he went room to room with my husband and me to see what we were wanting quotes on. We ended up putting up wainscoting in dining room and hallway, adding crown molding to several rooms on the main floor and changing out base boards. Painting all trim and all rooms on main floor, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and basement. Painting all inside doors. They painted the kitchen cabinets and 2 bathroom cabinets a satin paint. They replaced faucets and lighting in those areas as well. Kitchen and 2 baths had new quartz installed and backsplash in the kitchen. They built a media cabinet (from a picture that I had found) on a full wall for a large TV with custom shelving and cabinets. They updated the fireplace by putting a shiplap wood extending to the ceiling with added crown molding. They replaced the tile surround on the face of the fireplace and on the floor inlay in front. New fanlights in 4 bedrooms and family room. TV wall mounts put in 2 rooms and 1 in basement. Updated all main floor and upstairs recessed lights with new led recessed. Updated all fire detectors to code electrical throughout. Changed outdoor light fixtures on front porch, back porch and garage. Painted front door and installed door knocker. We wanted the oak banister stained and the spindles painted white. Joe mentioned putting in black iron balusters might be more cost effective than trying to paint the oak white. In the meantime, we asked about pulling up the carpet on the stairs and staining them to match the floor -- and, so he did. Lastly, we changed the balusters to nickel instead or the black, and they look amazing! Everything looks better than we could imagined. Originally when we were looking to downsize, my husband was more interested in the homes that were already updated and much more costly. I told him that if we found a house with good layout and in the same neighborhood we wanted to live in, that I'd help him update it to look as good as the other homes that he fell in love with. He is so happy with the work Joe and his group have done for us. We haven't fully moved in yet, but we can't wait to enjoy our new home. Joe is kind, considerate, organized, and he is a gentleman. He cleans up the work area everyday better that I clean my house, and he finds time to answer any emails promptly. His team is the same; they are true professionals. They are helpful in so many ways. We have lived in many cities and we have never come into contact with a construction company like Anix. We plan to use him again for other projects."

"After a year of working with us, Marc designed the perfect home for our family. He spent significant time on site to get to know the space and spoke to us frequently to ensure his design met our hopes and dreams. His final design is visually stunning and maximizes space use in a way that reflects both the history of the home and modern preferences. His expertise in Chicago building code and city offices was instrumental in our project being approved quickly. He reviewed bids with us to ensure we selected a GC who could do the job and had competitive pricing. He regularly met and emailed with the GC and suppliers to address issues as they arose during the job so that all were resolved to our satisfaction. Throughout it all, he was just a nice guy to work with during a process that can be very stressful."

Today we have a large team of Designers, Architects, Managers, Contractors and more to assist you in defining, expanding and building your dream space. We also offer financing options, client referral rewards, excellent customer service and have various industry partners offering discounts exclusive to our clients. We do everything with the client in mind to ensure a smooth process in creating every dream space!
"We hired Design First to redo our downstairs including a kitchen and bathroom. I would never recommend this company to anyone based on our experience with them. The company should be renamed Disappointment First. We used this company due to the recommendation of a friend but did not realize the ownership had changed. There are several other reviews that discuss how the company’s performance degraded with the new ownership. If you do use Design First, please learn from our mistakes in dealing with them and insist upon a firm completion date with a penalty per day for missing it. Several of their competitors offer this, and in our naivete we did not request a penalty for missing the completion date. We had a signed change order with a guaranteed 12/25/23 completion date, that they missed by several months. When we brought this up in discussions with them, they were dismissive and stated no penalty so nothing we can do."

While you might think that architects only draw blueprints for buildings, they are much more involved in the overall construction process than you might realize. While they aren’t the ones swinging the hammers, architects do the following:
Communicate with the homeowner on the project request, including assistance when exact plans aren’t known
Develop computer-aided models and blueprints of the requested design
Ensure that the design incorporates form, function, and safety features
Provide the contractor with the agreed-upon design
Supervise the general contractor and any subcontractors throughout the project
Communicate any needed changes to the project with the homeowner and draw new plans accordingly
Before settling on and hiring an architect, it’s beneficial to you as a homeowner to ask some questions to familiarize yourself with their work. After all, you wouldn’t want to spend time and resources on a professional that doesn’t specialize in exactly what you want in a house. Some questions to ask your architect include:
How do you charge for services? Is it on an hourly basis, based on square footage, or based on project size?
How do we work together to stay on budget for this project?
Do you anticipate any future challenges with this project? How are these communicated?
What is your project management style? If you are not handling the day-to-day details, who is my point of contact?
Can I see previous similar projects that you’ve completed?
Do you have any specialty experience, like working on historic homes or using sustainable building materials?
The average cost to hire an architect for your home project ranges between $2,200 and $10,500. However, depending on location and project type, you might end up paying as little as $600 or as much as $45,000 or more. For example, the average cost of hiring an architect in North Carolina is between $1,800 and $2,000, but in California, that price tag jumps to $3,600 to $15,200.
The price you pay for your architect also depends on their experience level. For example, a principal architect, the firm's owner, typically charges $150 to $250 per hour. However, an intern architect with three to five years of experience usually only charges $45 per hour.
After you’ve spoken with your contractor and agreed on a project, they’ll draw up blueprints, or plans, that the construction crew will use. The blueprint process can take between four and six months to complete. While this can seem like a long time, remember that the architect must communicate with your municipality to determine codes, communicate with you as the homeowner with any changes or adjustments, and coordinate with the construction crew.
If you simply remodel your home or add an addition, the time to draw up the plans will be shorter since fewer permits and surveys are required. Even still, it’s best to plan for a few months for the architect to complete this part of the project.
Knowing if you need an architect for your project can be tricky, especially if you've never worked with one before. In general, small remodeling projects like replacing fixtures typically don't require the expertise of an architect. However, larger projects, like moving walls or adding an addition to your home, should include an architect to ensure the project is structurally sound.
