"If I could, I would rename his company to Kitchen Magician, because what he did with our kitchen was really magic. Within 2 days, Mark transformed our old and outdated set of cabinets to new and modern ones. Before finding Mark, we consulted a number of companies. Those people came to our house, gave us lengthy speeches about how good they are and ended up giving us astronomical prices from 8 to 18 thousands dollars (for these amounts we could have built a brand new kitchen). Mark didn’t even come - I just sent him a picture and he gave me a price over the phone. When he came to complete the project, he didn't talk - he worked. At the end we have beautiful kitchen for $3400. Thank you, Mark."

"It went very well. They're actually going to do the work at house but they haven't started yet because they cabinets has to be made. They didn't give us an exact figure. They ordered the cabinets and the countertops and we paid them a certain amount of money. They have also a contractor associated with them, we have not paid him any money, we just got a rough estimate as to how much it's going to cost from him. They're doing the kitchen and the bathroom. They ordered the cabinetry and they said it would take about 6-8 weeks and this is now the 4th week. As far as the countertops, nothing has been ordered yet because they wanna get the cabinets and everything in place before they fabricate the countertops. We were able to choose and pick what we wanted because they have an extensive selection of cabinetry. We chose to go with them basically because of the cost. By far their cost is going to be the least expensive of all 3 estimates that we got. One of the important fact is that they are a small, local company here in the town that we live in and we know the contractor. I think this is going to work out fine. From talking to people who had done remodeling using other companies, I have the utmost confidence that this is gonna get done on time and within the budget that they have stated."

"Marcin OF Martin Hardwood Flooring did a fantastic job! The floor looks 100% better then when they were first installed. There were spaces between boards, chips where the finish was gone and lots of dents. the wood came with a very high polish which showed the imperfections and Marcin made the wood look fabulous. He finished the work in two days and we decided to let the finish cure an extra night so on the third day his crew came to lift the stove, rerigerator and table back into the kitchen. His price was the best out of four and if you want someone that does a really great job, he is the person to hire. Doorways, cabinets, and counters were all covered with plastic! I could not have asked for more of anything! Padding rugs were even put down for the temporary placement of my stove and refrigerator in my living room."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Any of your garage shelves should be able to hold heavier loads, but it’s best to place heavier items on middle shelves. The only reason for this is to prevent injury—lifting heavy loads from down low requires squatting or bending over, which can lead to back injury, and lifting heavy loads off of high shelves in the garage can be especially dangerous if you drop them.

It is generally more cost-effective to purchase stock or semi-custom cabinets than to have them custom-built. The best option depends on your budget and customization needs.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs per linear foot:

  • Custom Cabinets: $500 to $1,200. The final price is influenced by factors like materials, size, and design complexity. For example, a basic slab cabinet door might cost $60 to $70 for materials, while a more intricate mullioned glass inset panel door can range from $100 to $200 per door.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: $150 to $700.

  • Stock Cabinets: $100 to $400. These are pre-built and the most affordable option, but they offer limited customization and may not be suitable for rooms with unusual shapes or high ceilings.

Most installations take 1-3 days, depending on customization and venting setup.

The 1/3 rule is a design guideline used by interior designers and cabinet installers to select appropriately sized pulls for cabinets and drawers. The rule suggests that for a balanced and cohesive look, a cabinet pull should be approximately one-third the height of the cabinet door or one-third the width of the drawer face. This guideline helps create a symmetrical appearance because the human eye tends to follow the length of the pull across the cabinet face.

While the 1/3 rule is a helpful starting point, it is not the only option. If a measurement falls between available pull sizes, it's generally best to size up. For an ultra-contemporary aesthetic, you can also opt for full-width pulls that span the entire drawer.

Installing cabinet toe kicks after installing flooring is common, as this produces a sleek, streamlined appearance along the cabinetry bases. The toe kick is a cabinetry term for the covered, recessed areas at the cabinet’s base that let you stand closer to the counter more comfortably by making room for your toes.
