"First of all I have never used Angie's list but I needed a plumber in a pinch. When Joe called me to inquire about my job I could tell right away he was knowledgeable of his trade, on top of that honest and of good character. We discussed what my issue was and he was able to come over and take a look. Initially what we thought was the issue was something else due to the age of my home and plumbing. He tried very hard to fix the issue but we both soon realized it was more than just a easy fix. We discussed it and he did not even charge for the work done but gave me a very fair estimate of what it would cost to resolve my issues. We set up a date and he was on time and did everything he said he would working with us on the budget we had and was always honest showing us every step of the way what he was dealing with as again our house is very old and in many cases still some of the original plumbing. And as soon as everything began to thaw, (on Friday night) we found that we had a ruptured hot water pipe. Water was shooting out of the wall all over the bathroom. When it became clear that our usual plumber wasn't going to show up on Saturday, I frantically called half-a-dozen plumbers from Angie's List. Only Charlie got back to me and agreed to show up after his next job. On a day that he was clearly being overwhelmed with calls from all over the city, Charlie kept his word and showed up with his partner Dimitri. They quickly figured out there were no other leaks and repaired the pipe. On top of it, Charlie spotted two other unrelated plumbing issues in our HVAC room. They were minor now but could have turned into bigger problems down the road. His thoroughness and attention to detail allowed him to spot these hidden problems and save us headaches down the road. We had our water working in under an hour (on a Saturday evening!) and he charged a very fair price given the demands upon his time. He left our house at 5pm, his phone blowing up from other customers. I asked if he was going to have an end to the day soon, but he said he still had hours to go...he had promised other worried homeowners that he would help them today.
