"IF...youre having a problem or just updating fixtures, Big Wrench Plumbers are the folks to call. They arrived on time. They will access the problem correctly and professionally get it done. They were professional and proficient without being too chatty. They came prepared with shoe covers which is important in my house and did a great job of cleaning up behind themselves too. Any problem or projects I have going forward will be a job for Big Wrench Plumbers. My wife loves her new toilet and faucet. Thanks Cam. Thanks Andre."
"I was blown away by these guys! We have had a leak that has been the bane of our existence--intermittent and yet prolific. Several different plumbers and a handyman took a crack at diagnosing the issue. The guys from Plumb It investigated and, when the leak didn't show up immediately, came up with a plan. Less than 24 hours later, my leak was diagnosed and resolved. Hopefully we won't need to call any time soon, but the next time we do have an issue, they're on speed dial. Thanks again!"
"The guys did a great job replacing my garbage disposal and re-piping under my kitchen sink that had been incorrectly installed by a previous owner and brining everything up to code. They also replaced a leaky faucet in my bathroom. The price quote I received from them was about half the cost from another company that I was connected to through Angi’s list so overall I am very happy. They were fast, professional, courteous, explained everything, and cleaned up everything after the job was done. I highly recommend Mario & Sons for any work that you need completed. They even had a job at my neighbors house immediately after they completed my work and I know they were happy with the work performed as well."
"It was a rainy weekend…We had rapid leaking from the pipes in our basement ceiling (discovered over the weekend). We had called or regular company and other plumbers/services and all “took a message” or flat out said they were not available. Sunday morning I decided to try one more time. Rob answered the phone himself and offered to come over later in the day. He called back to let me know the exact time of his arrival. I didn’t know the source of the water so we weren’t doing laundry or dishes. Rob arrived and quickly located the source of the water and repaired the problem. We were expecting to pay $$$ because it was a Sunday emergency call. The price was quite reasonable but he gave us a discount on the full service price because he only needed to perform a part of that service…we now have a new friend and a new plumber. Great guy, great service and definitely a great price. *My husband was very impressed that he answered the phone himself."
"Mattco has been performing repairs and regular plumbing maintenance at my 116 year old Chicago 2-flat for many years. Over time with experience I have gained trust in Mattco Plumbing to get me out of big jams with the plumbing in this old building. Just recently Matt repaired the 2nd floor toilet drain line in the ceiling above my 1st floor bathroom in a very tight spot. I have had other plumbers walk away from the repair or just wanting to do the band aide repair. Matt was able to replace the entire drain line above the ceiling. I watched him do the repair. It wasn't easy, but he got it done. I have peace of mind because I know the repair will last for ever. I'm in my 50th year working and owning an HVAC company. I know a good technician when I see one. I trust in Mattco Plumbing."
Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts
In Chicago, homeowners often skip necessary permits or attempt complex plumbing repairs without licensed professionals, risking code violations and future issues. Overlooking pipe insulation during winter, installing sump pumps incorrectly, or ignoring aging lead service lines are frequent errors. Using incompatible pipe materials and neglecting to address tree root intrusion in sewer lines can also lead to costly repairs and water damage.

If your Chicago home experiences frequent clogs, low water pressure, or basement flooding, it’s likely due for plumbing improvements. Houses built before 1950, especially those with galvanized or lead pipes, should be evaluated. Homes in flood-prone areas or with aging sump pumps may benefit from upgrades. A professional inspection, including water pressure and sewer line assessments, helps determine the best solutions for your property.

In Chicago, proactive plumbing maintenance is essential due to extreme winters and heavy rainfall. Insulate exposed pipes to prevent freezing, check for leaks around fixtures, and test your sump pump before spring. Schedule annual inspections for your water heater and have your sewer lines inspected with a camera. Regularly test backflow preventers and monitor older pipes, especially if your home has galvanized or lead plumbing.
