"He is excellent. Very good. He is super nice. He worked extra hard. He looked like he lost 20 pounds by the time he left my house. He went well above and beyond.  It does take him a little longer to get back to you on the phone, it might take him a few days because it is only him. You have to wait a couple of days for him to get back to you but once he does he is on it."

"Terry showed up and looked over my basement and recommended for me to just remove the basement carpet, clean the concrete floor, and possibly remove the ceiling tiles. I didn't really have much of a problem that required much more. I did just that and all is good. I'm thankful for his honesty and very happy he didn't charge me some crazy price for unnecessary work. "Hector and his crew were very professional from the first moment we spoke on the phone. He is a listener first type of person who wants to make sure he understands your desires. The wife and I never felt like our concepts were in Jeopardy of being changed or manipulated. They were on time everyday and worked from beginning to end of the workday. The job was finished in the agreed upon time and the work was of the highest quality. Our home looks like it did when we first purchased it. We are so happy. If you want quality at a great price, hire Hector and his crew. You will not be disappointed But wait until I'm finished with him. I have another project he will be starting shortly. This company is a keeper on is on my shortlist whenever I need any painting or deck restoration completed. Thank you Hector and crew. You are amazing."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.
