She pointed out the problem and offered options in rebuilding the top layers of the chimney, one which was lower in price. "I originally bought an Angieslist deal for a roof inspection and repair credit.  Wesley Pluta contacted me very quickly after I bought the deal.  We had some water infiltration in January due to an ice dam, and I suspected one area of the roof needed some attention.  So when Wesley came out, we looked at the roof together and decided upon a course of action that included looking under the shingles at the flashing in a couple different areas.  The work was done by one of his guys a few weeks later.  One area of flashing around a chimney needed to be replaced.  The work was completed pretty quickly.  I am assuming that this should take care of the problem should we encounter ice dams in the future, but won't really know until that happens.  His work, of course, comes with a guarantee, so I'm sure if there is a problem he will fix it.  He was very responsive to my emails over the course of the time it took to get the work completed.  I also received a quote for siding replacement from him.  We aren't doing that work right now, but it's nice to have.
