I’m a hardworking person who doesn’t like to leave projects half finished or looking sloppy, I can be a bit of a perfectionist. I’ve always fixed and built almost everything I needed myself and I take pride in being self sufficient. I’ve been an electrician for a year and half now and before that I was fabricating aerators for private residences. I have a wife and two children, so I can handle the chaos of a whole house remodel even if you decide to alter any details halfway through.

"Excellent. This experience was the best I have had hiring outside help. After it was installed, I had some concerns and asked Aaron to come by. He came over on a Friday evening and to my surprise, agreed and quickly went above and beyond to remedy the situation. He was understanding and agreed with my concerns. Later I was worried about a sound I was hearing coming from the sump pump. He came up on a Sunday and turned out it was my old pump (not the new one they had installed) that was making the noise. He removed it and clearly explained why it was making the noise. The perimeter drain, pump, and dry well that they installed have all worked great since the installation, which was nearly 9 months ago now. It was very clear making sure a job was completed well and with integrity was important to him. It was comforting to know I was working with a company who valued customer service and doing a job well. Their prices were more reasonable than the 3 other companies I had estimates from. I would definitely use them if needed in the future."

The day work was done, he called and again they were here as scheduled, he explained everything in detail to me, They work together to complete the project, like a â  well oiledâ  machine. "These guys came out a few times. They picked up 2 entry doors and 2 heavy security doors from Lowe's that I purchased. They installed all of the doors. The front entry door has a larger door jamb than the modern day door jamb, so they also had to build out the frame. The added to the threshold so it is a nice, even now. The security door wouldn't open 100% because the roof of the porch was too low. They made some adjustments on the 1st day so it opened well and then came back another day to work on it again. They ended up raising the roof several inches, which in involved having to replace the siding under the porch roof and on the face of the porch roof. They did good work and cleaned up after themselves. These are nice guys to work with. I have another project I've recently contacted them for."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $500 to $5,000, depending on fire alarms, sprinklers, and safety equipment.

You can’t gauge the lifetime of a fire door like you could, say, an engine. Fire doors should be checked at least once every six months to ensure there are no signs of degradation like leaks, holes, water damage, termite damage, or anything else that might compromise the functionality of the door’s fire resistance. Check your smoke detectors while you’re at it.

You might be able to turn a normal door into a fire-rated door, but you’re better off purchasing one that meets all NFPA 80 standards. If you want to DIY a normal door into a fire door, you’ll need a self-adhesive intumescent seal, metal hinges, fire-resistant glazing, and a self-closing device, but you’re always better off buying a certified fire door.

Regular inspections, using dry wood, and installing chimney caps help maintain efficiency and safety.

You should not attempt to disable a smoke alarm unless you’ve already activated a replacement unit. To stop a hardwired smoke alarm from beeping, reset the device or silence the alarm. If you’re removing a hardwired alarm, shut off the power, turn the unit counterclockwise to remove it from the ceiling, and disconnect the wiring.
