"We are new homeowners and had a hole in our septic tank made of concrete block, which was sending wastewater into the foundation/basement of the home. It was my first time using Angie's List, and I would recommend Illinois Sewer and Drain to anyone. Joe and his team of experts solved our issue immediately at an affordable price. They even went above and beyond to install a sump pump in our basement to help with the rain water. Quality work!!"

"I hired ULB-Dry Waterproofing out of Villa Park to repair some cracks in my house’s foundation. Boy, am I glad I did! The three men, Margarito, Deivy and John, worked so hard and did a great job. They found more cracks, fixed those as well as installing a window well drain. My basement is as dry as a bone!! Great company to work with and great prices too!"

Customers say: True professional

"I had a serious problem with my pipes making loud noises; there was leaky pipe as well as leaky radiators.  Charles Gross was so friendly and personable that I was impressed and strongly felt that he would be an excellent choice to
correct my issues as well as service my boiler. I was correct. He did me a great service in which I cannot thank him
enough.  I will recommend him to anybodythat needs plumbing service as well as use him in the future for all my
plumbing needs.  I will be placing his information of my refrigerator for future use.
Thank You Charlie Gross.

"We called several plumbers who had previously done work on our house...none were equipped or willing to do the work that needed to be done. Only Reliance Plumbing was even willing to engage the problem -- coming out on the day we called -- and for that we are extremely grateful. Rather than try to talk us into an expensive flood control system that we couldn't afford, Alex took it apart and put it back together again, discovering the check valve broken but the gate valve working fine...it was still in working order. We've since used it and it appears (knock on wood!) to be back in business. Thank you, Alex, for all your hard work and for your commitment to doing a job that others found daunting. You're one of a kind."

"Once they located the main drain line, they did a really job of clearing it out. However, they left the debris from the drain line in the front yard and left deep tracks in the front lawn from their equipment."

"Could not have been better. Unlike every other plumber I contacted, Vasyl responded promptly, and was able to come out the same day. He also charged much less than the others quoted. Vasyl was completely professional, and performed the job quickly, efficiently and well. I have found my go-to plumber."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

If your drain line is clogged, your AC might stop cooling, shut down, or refuse to turn on at all. Otherwise, you might see your AC leaking water, find standing water or water damage near the unit, or notice a musty smell coming out of your air conditioner or vents.

Costs depend on clog severity, pipe condition, equipment required, and labor.

To keep window wells from filling up with water, you need to stay on top of maintenance. Remove debris as it fills up, and regularly loosen the gravel at the base if it’s become compacted. You can also reslope your yard to make sure water flows away from the window well (and your home’s foundation), and you can even install a window well cover to prevent debris from building up. Installing an actual drainpipe at the base of the well can also prevent window well drainage problems.
