"After some frustration with other firms, I called Rainforce for a complex job. We needed several sprinkler heads repaired and a line and zone relocated in preparation for driveway expansion, with an old copper-line 1960 system. I called early season and got a courteous text back within three days. They came out to do an estimate the next day. Raul did the digging (literally) to ensure he knew exactly what work needed to be done, and did some quick simple repairs while doing the estimate. He refused payment for this until the larger job was done. Three days later, four guys were at our home 9am Sunday morning to complete the work. They worked hard, verified with me all sprinkler heads were working, added two heads to the system while rerouting the pipe, and finished the job right on time (we were leaving at 11am and I paid them at 10:55). After all that, their price was roughly 50% lower than what my previous provider would have charged. I have fired them, and Rainforce is our go-to for the future."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Watering the lawn after aeration is crucial for getting the most benefits out of it. Not watering the lawn enough will cause the efforts of aeration to be in vain. Light and frequent watering will prevent the soil and grass seeds from drying out, but too much watering can create a muddy mess and wash the seeds away. Watering twice a day is a good benchmark.

A lawn that suddenly and quickly turns yellow is typically the result of a dramatic change in the grass's environment. Heavy rainfall can dilute soil nutrients, rapidly yellowing the grass, and dull lawn mower blades can dry out and damage the grass in a short time. Over-fertilizing can yellow a lawn within a matter of days.

Yes, you can throw seed on a lawn and hope it grows, but taking a few steps beforehand, such as dethatching, aerating, or raking, will give the seed a better chance of germinating. While it sounds like it’ll save time, throwing seed on the lawn without doing anything will require much more seed than any other method.

You can try that, but it isn't likely to yield results. It's like watering potted plants without putting the seeds in. Most of the tossed grass seeds sit on top of the soil or existing grass blades and never germinate. The seeds need to make it into the soil, just like growing a potted plant. The best way to accomplish this is to aerate your lawn first, then overseed.

If your lawn has some lumps and bumps, yes, aeration can help—although it may also be beneficial to take on other steps, like irrigation, fertilization, and dethatching (also known as scarifying). You can also use a power rake to physically break up the bumps in your lawn, which can help you achieve a more even look.
