Bad. They treated lawn when it was too hot and scorched/killed grass in many spots.

Tru Green came highly recommended from a friend, but my experience was completely different. The lawn technician never did a soil or lawn analysis, and did not try to ring the bell and do a "walk-around" the property with me, which they specifically promised in their sales pitch and in their promotional materials. He said he had "lent out" his soil probe, and couldn't do an analysis. He also told me, contrary to what the customer service rep said, that he couldn't treat Quack/Goose Grass. When I called customer service with questions after the 1st treatment, I was told the manager was busy but would call me back; s/he never called me back (that was 5 weeks ago). I cannot get a straight answer on what is being applied to my lawn. When I first set-up service, the customer service rep told me no pre-emergent barrier would be applied (because it was too late in the season and because I didn't want a pre-emergent since I had just over-seeded my lawn), but the "expert" service technician couldn't tell me what was being applied (first he said it WAS pre-emergent; when I questioned this, he said it wasn't -- he seemed to just want to tell me whatever I wanted to hear). A week after this treatment, when I called to ask for another weed-kill follow-up (because my lawn had never before seen so many weeds), the customer service rep said a pre-emergent HAD BEEN applied to my lawn (according to her records). She then scheduled a follow-up weed-kill application, but he NEVER came. I got an email telling me he came and did the service, but there was NO note left on the door (which they say they always leave) and my outdoor home security cameras did not pick up any activity on my lawn that whole day. What a sham! I would have called back again, but what's the point when I get told contrary information, get no respect or service from the managers, and am not even afforded the "service guarantees" they claim to offer customers? If I am having this many problems as a new customer, why would I continue? What response would I get if there was a serious issue or mistake made? A company that can't listen or talk to their customers, and gives them a different story every time, is not a company to give your money to. Believe me, I WANT a lawn care service, and was willing to pay, but their complete lack of professionalism and customer service has lost them a customer. I will now be going to one of their competitors for service and will happily pay more.

Lawn became much worse over time. Increasing bare spots. All they were good at was killing weeds. Totally incapable of improving quality of the lawn. Multiple calls only resulted in offers to repeat the prior application.

It’s a quarterly application. I don’t have anything to compare their price to. I think that they follow through with the original contract of application four times a year.

We have been using them for awhile. They always do a great job and my lawn looks the best on the block. They come out once a month during the summer time. If we see a couple of weeds in between the services we usually call them and they come right out. They come out every month on their schedule and leave a sign that they just treated it. We have been using them for years.

The service was good. Some weeds went away. I’ve got to call them to have them redo it, to touch it up. As often as I‘ve used them, I’m happy with them. Last year they weren’t too good on responsiveness.

Their prices were really high. My grass isn't always as green as my neighbor's.

They did a phenomenon job on the lawn but on pest control, it was like a waste of money.

I thought the service was very good and a neighbor, on the same visit, saw them performing the service, commented on it and decided to go with them as well.

My impression is that they assiduously apply fertilizer, even if it kills your grass in a drought when you're under restrictions to limit
watering your lawn. They definitely only apply weed killer if you call them back for a special appointment (i.e., they ignore the weeds when they're out there applying the fertilizer, so the weeds grow big and strong.) They blame your pets (as evidenced by technician notes on a form). At the end of 2011, we received a lawn analysis which carefully explained all the problems in our yard: the weeds, the crab grass, the bare spots -- after multiple years of using Scotts. At my husband's insistence, I gave them one more year. Our yard is pretty much the worst looking in the block and we're the only ones spending money on a professional lawn service! I don't feel the price is overly bad for a lawn service, but I gave it a C because of the results over the last two years.
I've now canceled. The good things I can say, is that I didn't have any problems canceling for 2013 unlike some of the horror stories I've heard. And they did come out every time I called in exasperation about the weeds that had been fertilized rather than treated. That's why I gave them a B in Responsiveness.
I'll also mention that they NEVER, EVER knock on your door or ring your doorbell to let you know that they are there -- a problem when you have a dog who is free to roam in the back yard. In some cases, this meant they just didn't treat the back yard, because she was out. They do send out a robo-call and show up approximately when they say they are coming, which is why there is a B in Punctuality.
One thing to beware if you start using them is their "convenient" (for them) continuing service contract. You aren't making a contract for one year but for eternity. The date shown is the date I canceled the service contract. It was not the last date of service, which was sometime in September.

I love them and my lawn looks great. They are punctual, consistent on the visits, we have no problems and we have been using them for years. Their price is competitive. There were extra weeds last summer and they came out for an intermediate visit. There was no charge for that.

They did not really fertilize my lawn. They came out on rainy days and use a liquid fertilizer. When I called to complain, they told me that it was my fault and my expectations are too high. They told me to call if I was unhappy, and they would come back out. They would not come back out when I called. They were very expensive. The person I talked to yelled at me. My lawn looked horrible.

I have a service contract with them. We've lived in this house 26 years and I've had other lawn services. Scotts does the best job; the lawn looks the best of anybody I've used. I think their chemicals and fertilizers are better. They don't always come out and spray; sometimes the guy walks with a spreader. I will continue to use them. I am satisfied with the price. They may be a little higher than others, but to me it is worth it.

Nice people but awful service. First time out "equipment wasn't working right" and they needed to come back. After a month of revisits, there were still areas of the lawn that had been missed. Only returned phone calls after multiple messages and days passed. Sometimes they just didn't return phone calls. Never responded to email or contact through their website. Now the lawn is full of crabgrass; the worst I have ever had. Makes me think the first treatment never got done right. I cancelled the remaining treatments since they were so bad. Bought my own weed killer to do the areas they missed. Weeds died faster with doing it myself. Had to call corporate to get a partial refund and a return call (actually never got the return call just the refund) Scott's has good products but their lawn service did a very poor job. Neighbors asked "who treated your lawn this year? It looks awful."
