"The installer showed up on time and went straight to work. We discussed a couple of issues he ran into and these were resolved to my satisfaction. It's been a few motnhs since the bathtub was removed and the new shower installed. There have been no problems."

"Don and Carol came out and priced the entire bathroom. The scope was reduced and Don re-estimated. Project Scope: New Bathtub and Remove/Replace Ceramic Floor Tile. Ken did work; I was not present to interface with Ken, but Don was available to report progress/ask questions daily. Final Outcome: Excellent."

"Having a 1-year-old changes the way you look at every part of your home ? especially the bathroom. Safety, cleanliness, and convenience suddenly become so important. When we decided to remodel ours, I wanted a space that would make daily routines easier while still feeling calm and comfortable. Century City Baths gave us exactly that. The crew was professional, tidy, and respectful of our home. They worked efficiently and made sure every detail was done carefully. The new bathtub feels secure and comfortable for bath time, and the entire bathroom feels brighter and much easier to maintain. What I appreciate most is how much smoother our routine feels now. Bath time is safer, cleanup is faster, and the space finally works for our family instead of against us."

"Excel, did an excellent job answering our million questions and was courteous. We had an issue that wasn't Excel's fault. My wife wanted the patio doors that has the blinds inside the window. But the last update that Excel received from our village was it doesn't meet code. So we had to go with the regular patio doors. So once the windows and patio door was replaced, the village had to approve it. So as the village inspector was doing his job, I took it upon myself to ask why the village doesn't allow patio doors with blinds inside the windows. The inspector informed me that we can, the particular code was changed some time back. Excel wasn't aware of the change, so we immediately called Excel informing them of what we just heard. Excel without hesitation got us the windows that my wife originally wanted. Excel made my wife happy, which made me happy later on that night & that night our patio doors were changed to the ones she wanted!!! Thanks Excel!!"

"This was our first remodel and quite the undertaking. We had a half/completed finished basement that 4Ever finished and added a bar. They also did some finishing work in our basement bathroom which included a closet and replaced 8 windows. We worked with Ryan, Magda, Anna, Machiek and Robert. Everyone was always very responsive and thorough. Any problem was addressed quickly and professionally. Robert and his teammate were remarkably punctual and fast and I would totally work with them again. Magda and Anna had a lot of great suggestions. Pricing was competitive with other bids we received."

"I've had the pleasure of working with J.T. General Contracting over a period of approx. 3 years. During the process of upgrading my mother's house, Jim Taccola (owner) guided me thru 2 bathroom remodels, several door replacements, a front stoop replacement and numerous other projects. He not only demonstrated expertise in many areas of remodeling and repair, but was also skilled in coordinating the various trades involved. He was honest and insightful with regards to all aspects of the projects from general concepts to minor details. He was consistently timely in communications, respectful and sensitive to our needs throughout. And this all with a most pleasant demeanor. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jim and would highly recommend him to anyone interested in just about any facet of home remodeling or repair."

"Paul was great! Always on time and finished the work in a timely fashion. Nice clean-up when they were finished . He helped us brain storm through problems as we did our condo renovation. For us he removed a wall between kitchen and dining room, relocated and replaced electrical, renovated a bathroom, installed floor, painted , added lighting. We plan to have him back for phase 2 of renovations."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The overflow drain and wastewater drain connect to the same main pipe to take water away from your bathtub. Your overflow drain is meant to prevent damage to your bathroom—especially the floor around your bathtub, where excess water can quickly create a mold or mildew problem.

Roman tubs are very different from ordinary tubs. A Roman tub is typically deeper and broader than a traditional tub, and it's often installed on a custom platform with the faucet positioned on the deck rather than on the wall. Ordinary tubs are more shallow and usually feature built-in shower options

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

Yes, $5,000 is a healthy budget for a DIY bathroom renovation. It can go a long way in making the space more accessible and stylishly spa-like. Providing you stick to modest materials and don’t make any major plumbing or structural changes, you can upgrade fixtures, retile, and add some stylish bathroom accessories and savvy storage solutions to maximize the space.

Technically, yes, you can put a shower on a Roman tub, but it's not common. The vast majority of Roman tubs are standalone models. Adding a shower would involve installing a ceiling-mounted curtain rod or a custom glass enclosure, as well as redoing the plumbing, making it neither easy nor budget-friendly.
