"Scheduling, design and installation all handled in a pleasant and professional manner. The end results look great, and the price reasonable. We had a shelving unit installed in our linen closet, shelving added to our basement stairwell and a slat wall on the other side for hanging things on."

"I had Zach and his team design and install closet systems for my new construction home. Zach was great to work with - he made helpful recommendations and turnaround time on the closet designs was quick. Communication was excellent throughout the process. The installers were all friendly and professional. I highly recommend!"

"Words to describe Biango....flexible, collaborative, reasonable, partner. We met with a few different contractors to refinish our basement. Nick provided an estimate that was comparable to the others, but was the most flexible from the beginning. If we wanted to add something, the price obviously went up, but he also passed along any savings when he could. We knew what we wanted and Nick and I worked together to make it even better than what we envisioned. Every project has an obstacle and he was able to communicate those early and come up with even better ideas that we originally had. He also takes pride in quality work. He hand picks all the materials and fixes any issues if they occur. When I needed to make a design decision, he also spent time with me to talk through options. I highly recommend Biango Construction to all my friends!"

"Lettie is a master organizer who has brought her intuitive sense of divine space and order into our closets, kitchen and pantry and storage space, as well as overseeing our cross country house pack up. Everything she initially applied has stayed with us and as we extend into our most recent garage shelving project, we find ourselves asking, â what would Lettie do?â"

"I felt confident that they would do a good job. I was not on-site and left them alone in my condo to install the crown molding. They did keep in contact with me via text with questions and pictures. They were true professionals! They did an excellent job!!"

Closets questions, answered by experts

How many days it takes to remodel a closet will also depend on the scale of the project. Small changes like installing a prefab kit will eat up an afternoon and no more, while a total renovation could require several days to a week. If you’re planning for the latter, plan to secure other sleeping arrangements while construction is ongoing.

Most packing services take 4-12 hours, while unpacking may take 1-2 days, depending on volume.

On average, building a custom or built-in closet costs around $2,100. However, the total price can range from as little as $500 for a simple DIY project to $6,000 or more for a large, high-end custom closet. Most projects typically fall between $1,500 and $5,000.

The final cost depends on several factors, including the closet's size, type, materials, and features. Here is a general cost breakdown by closet type:

  • Reach-in closet: $500 to $1,500

  • Walk-in closet: $750 to $5,000

  • Wardrobe: $2,000 to $6,000 or more

Choosing a prefabricated closet system is generally less expensive than a fully custom build. The scope of design and construction services will also significantly impact the price.

Built-in furniture maximizes space, offers a tailored look, and enhances room functionality.

A standard walk-in closet has dimensions of 7 feet by 10 feet at a minimum and an average of 100 square feet. Remember that the dimensions of the closet aren’t necessarily the usable space. This means that a 100-square-foot walk-in closet with shelves on each wall and an island may only have a walkable area of 50 square feet or less. Make sure you consider the effect of additions when you plan the room—mockups are a great idea.
