"Good work in general; our basement no longer sees water for over 3 years now, which is the most important thing. But there were some real issues: The biggest issue is that USW did not adhere to local electrical codes, and did not arrange for a final inspection of the project. So we didn't find out that it wasn't to code until years later, and now it's a big hassle and minor cost to fix and get the permits. Ask your local gov yourself what you need to do for permits and inspections; don't rely on USW! USW said they would seal any foundation cracks found along the way; they didn't do this until I bugged the warranty dept about it (but they did do it eventually). USW sent someone out for the "annual checkup"... over 2 years after the install. It's a good thing they (eventually) did, because they discovered the backup battery wasn't charging. Now I know to check this stuff better myself. Prices also vary wildly and are kind of negotiable (I'd give more detail but I'm out of space)"

"Mr. Preban & his crew installed a drainage system in my yard. His written estimate was complete, fairly priced. They showed up when they said they would & worked a long couple of days. I definitely recommend Preban Enterprises."

"Provider was prompt, professional and friendly.  Arrived at the agreed upon time for a free estimate and performed work same-day after we agreed to the price.  He stuck to the price despite taking longer than expected and more work than usual due to worn-rusted pipes in my home.  Cleaned-up after himself and left no sign that work was done other than our new, working toilets.  We are very pleased and reccomend McDonagh & Sons Plumbing & Sewer Inc.

"It took some time to finalize my decision to work with Everydry vs. other basement waterproofing companies. However, my situation is more challenging than most and what I needed was significant. Everdry provides a system -- so the pricing is not as specific as their competitors. However, that's also because they had a large team working on my project who focused on my home and its specific challenges before finalizing and installing the best options. While we had a pretty good plan already in place, their engineers and foreman reviewed those plans and communicated options that made it even better. Communication was great. They called a week before the job to confirm start dates, times and what to expect. They spent a large amount of time prepping my house to protect it from all the traffic that the job required. Everyone on the team was nice, polite, intelligent and hard working. They then came out one final day to review the work completed and ensure I was satisfied with everything. On top of that, their work has a lifetime guarantee for as long as these foundation walls are here. I'm very happy and relieved I made the decision to work with Everydry Waterproofing. I will say they weren't the cheapest, but I do feel that the work done and the service I'll continue to receive makes it the best value."

"Joey arrived on time and inspected the crack. He prepared the crack and repaired it in no time. I would say he was in and out in about 90 minutes. He kept everything clean. Could not even tell he was there other then the patch. It is a year later and the patch still looks the same as the day it was installed. Great job. I would definitely recommend these guys for crack repair."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

A plumber can get to the bottom of your smelly drain and clean it with specialized jets, hoses, and drain-safe cleaning solutions. It is also smart to call in a plumber if you suspect your drain smell is coming from a stubborn clog or even a leaky pipe.

No, you should not see water in a sewer cleanout. If you do, it could indicate that you have a block or leak in your main sewer line—which can cause sewage to back up inside your home and potentially flood your yard. Your best bet is to call a local sewer cleaner if you notice any water or sewage around your cleanout.

For disposal clogs with standing water, use a sink plunger and place it over the garbage disposal drain. Push the sink plunger up and down the drain about six to eight times before lifting. If the sink drains, the clogged food particles are dislodged from the drain. If there’s still standing water, repeat the steps until the standing water clears out.

There are several signs that can indicate your leach lines are broken, failing, or in need of repair, including puddles of water or a marshy consistency to the ground above or around the pipes, slow drainage or plumbing backups inside your home, and noticeable odors or gurgling sounds coming from your leach field. Keeping your septic system properly maintained, including having your septic tank pumped at regular intervals, can help ensure your leach lines stay in good working order for a long time.

If you're dealing with a clogged sink drain, you may be able to avoid removing the drain by using a plunger to dislodge the clog. While we associate plungers with toilets, they can do the same job with your sink drain. Be gentle, though, as forceful movements can push clogs further into your plumbing system and make them more difficult to remove. Additionally, make sure you’re using a sink plunger—with a flat bottom—and not a toilet plunger—which has a smaller bottom protruding from the larger flat piece.
