Small jobs welcome

"Lockhart Electric has done several projects for me. Everything from replacing switches and fixtures to upgrading my breaker panel. They are always so helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are always fair, and they always give me options to help me make the best decisions depending on my need and my budget. I trust them with my home and I wouldn't call anyone else."

"I was pleased with the installation of the lightning rods--communication was great and the work was done quickly. What I wasn't happy with is he quoted me a price that was less then my actual bill was BUT the price was still less then two other contractors bids."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Once your electrical project wraps up in Champaign, confirm that all required inspections are completed and keep permits on file for future reference. Test new outlets, especially GFCIs, to ensure everything functions safely. It’s wise to schedule annual system checks and update your insurance provider about significant upgrades, as this can help maintain proper coverage and ensure compliance with local requirements.

Helpful?

In Champaign, be cautious of quotes that are significantly lower than others, as this may indicate skipped permits or subpar materials. Avoid professionals who refuse to provide written estimates or pressure you for quick decisions. Lack of local references, unclear communication, or missing proof of insurance are warning signs. Also, steer clear of anyone unfamiliar with Champaign’s inspection process or who suggests bypassing required permits.

Helpful?

When hiring electrical pros in Champaign, prioritize those with experience in local building styles and neighborhood codes. Ensure they have up-to-date insurance and bonding, and check for positive local reviews. Request detailed written estimates that include permit and inspection fees. Good communication and familiarity with Champaign’s inspection process help ensure your electrical project runs smoothly and meets all safety standards.

Helpful?

In Champaign, electrical contractors include residential specialists for home wiring and upgrades, commercial pros for businesses and campus buildings, and industrial experts for manufacturing sites. You’ll also find contractors focused on solar panel installations, EV charging stations, and smart home systems. Many local electricians handle emergency repairs after storms, which is especially important given Illinois’ unpredictable weather.

Helpful?

Electrical systems in Champaign benefit from regular maintenance due to seasonal temperature swings. Schedule yearly panel inspections, test GFCI outlets monthly, and replace smoke detector batteries as needed. Before winter, check wiring for heating systems, and after storms, inspect for damage. Keeping outdoor electrical components weatherproofed and updating older wiring helps prevent issues and keeps your home safe year-round.
