"Bottom line up front, I was beyond impressed with the work done by Cash Electric. I have a rental property with some electrical gremlins I could not get figured out. After too long, I broke down and looked for an electrician. I was dreading it both mentally and financially. However, from the first interaction through the troubleshooting and to the end of the job I was impressed. Kayleb laid out a straightforward plan for figuring out my problems and made sure I knew what to expect. His crew was able to determine the cause of my issues and give me a prognosis by the end of the day. Kayleb sent over an estimate really quick and was able to get back over to fix my issues within a couple of days. In this economy, and with so many poorly run trade businesses out there, it was a true breath of fresh air to hire Cash Electric. If you have electrical issues, don't like messing with outlet installations or need a generator setup Kayleb and his crew are the only ones you should be looking for."

"I was pleased with the installation of the lightning rods--communication was great and the work was done quickly. What I wasn't happy with is he quoted me a price that was less then my actual bill was BUT the price was still less then two other contractors bids."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The number of outdoor outlets that can be on one circuit depends on the circuit's capacity and the electrical load of each outlet. Outdoor outlets should ideally be on a dedicated circuit that is not shared with other outlets, and each outlet should be rated for at least 15 amps. A circuit rated for at least 20 amps is recommended. It’s important to use GFCI protection for all outdoor outlets to prevent electrical shocks. Overall, it's crucial to avoid overloading the circuit and take necessary safety precautions.

The most common gauge for indoor outlets around your home is 12- and 14-gauge wires. But if you’re working with larger appliances like ovens, washing machines, or dryers (all of which require more amplitude), you might find 10-, eight-, or six-gauge wires to help support those hefty appliances.

Yes, pool pumps use a significant amount of electricity, making them one of the biggest energy consumers in a home. A pool pump can use up to three times as much electricity as a refrigerator. Typically, a residential pool pump consumes about 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) for every hour it runs. Because pumps often need to run for about eight hours a day to properly filter the water, this can add up to an annual consumption of 3,000 to 5,000 kWh, which can cost between $480 and $800 per year based on average electricity rates.

The amount of electricity your pump uses depends on its size, energy efficiency, and daily run time. To lower your energy consumption, you can choose an energy-efficient or variable-speed pump, ensure it is correctly sized for your pool, and run it only for the minimum time required to keep the water clean.

Yes, GFCI breakers are required for all outdoor outlets. This code requirement applies to all outlets located on balconies, decks, patios, and other outdoor lounge spaces. In addition, outdoor outlets need to have watertight covers that provide protection when cords are plugged in. If you have an older home that may not be up to code, it's a good idea to also ask your electrician about adding GFCIs to some indoor areas. Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and any other areas of a home that are commonly exposed to moisture should have GCFI breakers.

You can run a small or basic standard-size refrigerator on a 15-amp circuit. But you should plug a modern, standard-size refrigerator into a 20-amp dedicated circuit. The refrigerator needs to be on a dedicated circuit, meaning it is the only appliance and outlet on that circuit breaker. This method prevents tripping the breaker and reduces the chance of an electrical fire
