Customers say: Quality work

"Cary called me within 24hr. He made a suggestion for me to look at before coming out and guess what it worked! When I offered to pay for his consulting of possible issues he decline to take my money. Great customer service and not there to just take your money for easy fixes. 10 stars!"

"WOW - working with Jaime and his crew was remarkable. They plastered my 44 ft X 18 pool, changed out two pumps, replaced jets, fixed my heater, and spent meticulous detail to make sure the pool was open and running before they wrapped up the job. They were professional, courteous, responsive, and truly cared about my concerns. Jaime came out and gave me a quote the same day I requested it on Home Advisor. They addressed everything perfectly. They also made certain to clean up after each day so there was no mess around since the job took 6 work days in total. The crew arrived promptly each morning between 7 and 8, and stayed until the day's work was done. I received quotes from many other larger firms - all were about 20 - 25% higher cost that JV's Pools. You should have no hesitation using a smaller firm like JV's! I was concerned at first since it was such an important job but was SO GLAD with the decision. What I noticed was that working with a smaller 'boutique' firm like JV's pools made the personal experience and customer service that much better. I could always call the owner on this cell phone, even in the evening, and he could answer any questions I had. Jaime and he lead foreman all have over 30 years experience with pool construction and repair before they started their own firm (I cannot verify this but this is what they told me - and I believe it). Also important to note - other pool companies I have worked with in the past always tried to 'keep me stupid'. I am a new pool owner (I bought a home with a pool in 2010) and the companies would services the pool, open the pool, and close the pool in a way that felt like they were intentionally avoiding me so I could never ask questions, thus always be dependent on them. Jaime and his team did the opposite. They gave me tons of practical advice on being a pool owner - - - and the guy who does service that they work with took the time to even show me how to use the complicated chemical testing kit that i never really understood (I used test strips, but now I will use the test kit). I even learned more about my heater - - - who knew! Thanks Jaime, Freddy, Raymond, Herman and the rest of the crew! Well done."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

Regular water testing, filter cleaning, and chemical balancing are essential for keeping water clean and equipment functional.

To refill a hot tub after winter, start by opening up the tub and giving it a quick cleaning. If you use antifreeze, drain out the water then grab a hose and thoroughly clean the tub shell out, spraying water into each jet of the tub.

Reconnect the hot tub and turn the power back on. When it’s time to fill the tub again, insert the hose into the filter well (if available). Avoid trapping too much air in the water lines, which can cause the pump to lock up when it starts again. Add the necessary chemicals and start the heating process. It will take some time—most of a full day—for the water to heat up again.

In most cases, it is safe to clean a hot tub with vinegar. You will want to verify that your hot tub manufacturer lists vinegar as a safe cleaning product; however, given that vinegar is chemical-free, cleans, deodorizes, and is safe for people and pets, it is usually a good option. You can use vinegar to clean the hot tub shell, interior and exterior spa surfaces, hot tub jets, hot tub filter, and other parts. It is considered a strong, safe, and natural cleanser that can kill bacteria, remove mold and mildew spores, erase water spots, and remove hard water stains.

It’s possible to move a hot tub on its side or base as long as it fits snugly in the moving truck, with plenty of padding around it. This moving method requires specialized equipment and careful planning, like moving straps, dollies, and moving blankets.

For a fully-foamed hot tub, freezing typically occurs when the temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit and remains at or below this level continuously for a minimum of 36 hours. If your hot tub and pumps are still operational, however, the water circulates, and this continuous movement helps prevent freezing, even in very cold conditions. This circulation, along with the insulation provided by the foam, helps maintain the water temperature and prevent it from freezing during extended cold periods. Still, if you’re not planning to run it regularly, be sure to winterize the hot tub properly to prevent damage from freezing.
