"I had various estimates to repair or replace my old deck and went a considerable way toward doing it myself. I finally had several estimates to fully replace the old deck with high quality Timbertech / Azek materials. D&M came in with most favorable pricing and impressed me as honest and reliable people. Dino took a look at the layout of the old deck and very quickly proposed a reconfiguration with the beams and joists running 90 degrees from the layout of the old deck. It took a while for me to make up my mind to have the deck professionally done. I finally decided that it made the most sense to have it professionally done to meet all building codes and get a level of quality that I could not approach. In the course of attempting it myself I learned some things about quality deck construction. It quickly became clear to me that the deck (20' x 18') that Dino and his crew built was very sturdily constructed with 15 footings going to a depth of 48". Dino and his most experienced crew members did the footings to make sure the pattern was right and the footings were to the correct height. A crew of 3 carpenters (Hugo, Juan and Oscar) did the deck build from a Wednesday to the next Wednesday. I was impressed with how level all the beams and joists were and all the small but significant quality features they built in. The joists were on 14" centers making for a stronger platform for the PVC deck boards which are very flexible and could have ended up feeling a bit soft underfoot or wavy if the joists are not very level and at the same height. The manufacturer required 16" on center joists. The deck boards run the length of the deck to avoid seams and are very nicely attached with hidden fasteners. The stairs are built on footings making them very strong. Way overbuilt but in a good way. I chose the aluminum rail system when thinking of doing the project myself because it was supposed to be easiest for the do-it-yourselfer to install. We stuck with this when Dino did his quote. The carpenters did a great job installing the railing but it became clear to me that I would have ended up with $3,000 worth of scrap metal if I had attempted this myself. Lastly, the Elmhurst building code inspector visited three times, once to verify that the footing holes went to the required 48" depth, once to examine the framing and once to examine the finished deck. On his last visit, I asked him why he spent so little time examining the work. He responded that when it is done very well, it is obvious and he doesn't need to spend much time. I can recommend D&M Outdoor Living for your decking project without reservation. Bob B. Elmhurst, IL October 2019"

We are a small business. We were established in 2012. Most of business is from word of mouth. We specialize in all line of concrete work, fencing, sodding and landscaping.
"Starting with the estimate (which was comparable to the other estimates I got), Gibran spent more time discussing exactly what I wanted and needed: the old walk was narrow, did I want it widened; squared off or rounded out where it met the garage slab; raising the back walk slightly to eliminate the extra, shallow step at each end; and most usefully, how to work around the 100 year old catalpa, that had lifted and broken the old walk, between it and the house. We ended up adding a curve to the walk, just by the tree, giving it extra space without disturbing the existing tulip bed on the other side of the walk along the house. He and his crew worked quickly and neatly, and did a very nice job. The new walks meet the city sidewalk and garage slab evenly, the curves are smooth, the tree has room, the tulip bed and ivy along the house weren’t disturbed, and now it’s much less of a pain to shovel snow than it used to be! As a bonus, landscaping was not part of the contract, but Gibran found a source of black dirt for us, and when there was a delay (while waiting for the city inspector) after the forms were in place, he and his crew spread the dirt needed to regrade the yard for us, rather than just sit around. I’m very pleased with the work they did for us, enjoyed working with Gibran and his crew, and would definitely recommend 5 Star Concrete & Construction."

When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
The average cost of playground equipment installation is around $500, and most homeowners pay between $330 and $700, excluding the cost of the playground equipment itself. Your total project cost will depend on site preparation requirements, playset size, design complexity, number of accessories, and the swing set materials. Don’t forget to account for the cost of playground surfacing, which can cost between $15 to $160 per cubic yard or $225 per cubic yard for poured rubber.
The cost of a paver patio is $3,800 for a 280-square-foot patio on average. Depending on the patio size, paver material, and design complexity, this cost can range from $2,400 to $7,000 or more.
The size of your patio is a significant factor in the project’s overall cost. If you're building a smaller patio of only 60 square feet, your costs will be closer to $480 to $1,500. If you want a more luxurious 900-square-foot patio, you'll spend closer to $7,200 to $22,500.
The average cost of mudjacking is around $5 per square foot of concrete, with most concrete leveling jobs totaling between $3 and $8 per square foot. The typical cost to fix a sinking portion of concrete slab with mudjacking is around $1,100. The price you’ll pay depends on the size of the concrete slab you need to be leveled, the accessibility of the slab, and the type of material your contractor uses beneath the concrete to lift it back into place.
The cost to install a concrete driveway is $4 to $15 per square foot on average. Your price heavily depends on your desired concrete finish and driveway size.
For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay an average cost of $1,900. For a driveway at double that size (400 square feet), the average price is closer to $3,800. Plain concrete is significantly more cost-effective, averaging $7 per square foot, whereas stained concrete averages around $19 per square foot.
