Harris Roofing, Siding, Window, & Doors

I can't say enough about this company. I have used them now for a new front door with sidelights and two times for windows. I have one more round of windows to complete next year and I will be using them. Their customer service is top notch and installers are great. If there is ever a problem, they come out to fix it. Great company.

Weather delayed original start date. Work was done within 2 days, they cleaned up their mess. Everyone that I came into to contact with from salesman, office staff, to workers were friendly and helpful. I was very happy with the finished project.

Phil Davis and his team were outstanding. The replacement included repair of several weak spots and, most importantly, adding much needed ventilation. The roof has lasted admirably with no problems and the added ventilation benefits have been obvious. Since we used shingles with a 20-year factory warranty I'm confident that we have a long way to go before we need to deal with the roof again. We've been very happy with the roof's appearance and performance. Note that the price was from almost 9 years ago.

I couldn’t be more pleased with my new roof! The journey began in 2014 when a representative from an A+ rated roofing company on Angie’s list came out to the house. The rep walked around the house, but never got up on the roof and never went into the attic. We talked for about 30 minutes and the rep left. A week or so later, I received their estimate. I followed up with some questions and was told I could expect a revised quote in a few days. After questioning prices on the second quote and after repeated phone calls to the company and a promise of a revised third quote … which never came ... I decided not to use this company. In 2015, at the recommendation of friends, I contacted Harris Exteriors and More, Inc. Joe Hopkins came out to the house, got up on the roof, went up in the attic, and spent time explaining the various options and pricing. The estimate I received was very reasonable and I decided to go with Harris Exteriors. Not only did they tear off the old and install the new roof, they also installed gutter guards, a new downspout, shutters, and aluminum wrap around the rakes, eaves and garage door frame. Each member of the crew worked hard and cleaned up when the job was completed. From start to finish, Joe was easy to work with and very accommodating. Since the time all of the work was completed, there have been at least 2 or 3 very strong wind events. I’m happy to say I didn’t lose any shingles! As I stated at the beginning of this review, I couldn’t be more pleased with my new roof. Thank you, Joe and Harris Exteriors!

We met with Phil at the new second showroom at 321 Roosevelt Rd, Glen Ellyn. They were wonderful to work with, from start to finish.  Phil spent time with us to plan the project, answering questions, seeking out the exact colors we wanted, and helping us find the perfect products that met our needs within our budget.  One of their guys even designed a beautiful new window from scratch to replace an old bow window box. The project proceeded right on schedule and Phil was responsive to every inquiry.
Our house looks like new (and is much warmer in the winter) and we couldn't be happier!

The staff at first visit went really well.  They were not prompt at all.  The week before they were suppose to start I called to see if everything was on track and they had forgotten to order windows and it delayed the project for another week I believe.  I would tell a friend call somebody else. 

The job and experience with Harris Exteriors went very well.  We dealt with salesperson Joe, who was very personable, low key, not a high-pressure sales-person.  The entire job took about 4 days, one for the roof, two for soffit and facia, and one for the gutters.  The workers were quick and cleaned up the area well when they left each day.  The cost was within $100 of what was estimated, due to a small amount of extra wood replacement that needed to be done.  The price was competitive with other estimates I had gotten.  I have had compliments on the job they did, and would definitely recommend them.

We were reimbursed because of hail damage. The crew was super great. They did our siding also and put in a new window. They did not take too long. We also put bricks in front of the house. We also got a new brick mail box. They were recommended to us by Scott who is one of my dad's employees.

We had ordered windows back in Nov 2013, but due to the cold and bad weather weren't able to get them in until 3/24/14. Harris didn't rush us. They were happy to wait until we felt comfortable installing them. On install day, the installers arrived on time and were very friendly. They went right to work and made sure runners were put down to keep things clean. They worked quick and efficiently. They were done with 4 windows in two and a half hours, but they did a great job. Then they wrapped up the rest of the windows by 3pm that afternoon. The Harris crew is great! Our salesman also stopped by to make sure everything was going well that day.
We replaced the windows in the back of the house this spring and are planning on using Harris again to replace the windows in the front of our home later on when the weather and budget are in sync.
Lastly, Harris also replaced our patio doors about a year ago and that project ran just as smooth as the window replacement we did recently. Harris is a quality contractor and they work with you to get everything you need done with a reasonable price.

They weren't what they claimed to be in the beginning. I don't think as the job went on that they knew what they were doing. The gentleman that we had to deal with, he just wasn't fun to deal with. He was friendly in the beginning and then very cocky and arrogant and difficult to deal with at the end.
They had done work, they had done windows in my mother's house and my sister's house so I went with them based on what I saw, even though they were more expensive than some of the other quotes that I had gotten.
I don't believe that the people that they sent here knew everything about what they were supposed to be doing. I don't think he was very clear in, they weren't very clear about the detail work and when I would complain about something he just thought I was complaining too much. They didn't have all the right materials. We had to wait on stuff. They were late to begin with and we had to wait because they didn't have all the right materials. I was just very disappointed in the whole thing.

I liked very much everything that he did. I liked the service and I liked the guy that came out to work with me. He was good with time. He put in efforts to get the things that I wanted done. Even down to the small details that I was looking for, he went over backwards to get it done. I will absolutely use his services again in the future.

After the repair, we then had a leak inside our house in the kitchen. They came out no less than 7 times to try to repair this leak. Each time they would say it was repaired, then the next time it rained, the leak would show up in another location in the kitchen. This went on until September 2010. With winter approaching, we were very concerned about going into winter with this leak. We kept calling, and calling, and calling. I would get different stories from different people. I talked to Carl, the Office Manger, We would contact the installer, Steve, on his mobile phone. They basically showed up whenever they didn't have another job to work on. Another installer, John, showed up one time to try to figure out the problem, but nothing was resolved. I finally thought that if I talked to the owner, Phil Davis, that he would get it resolved. Mistake! He is the most unprofessional person of them all. He came to our house and was in our house, yellilng at my husband. My husband finally asked him to leave our property. Chris Harris, the former owner of this company, was also there with the owner and apologized to my husband for the owner's behavior. Evidently, someone came to the house within the next couple of days after the owner was at our house, and put some type of little rain gutter across the roof. No one called and said they had done anything. My husband was checking the roof and found this little gutter. This did not resolve the problem. We finally got another contractor, which was difficult because most contractor didn't want to touch it. In September 2010, the other contractor ripped off the layers of shingles that Harris kept putting on top of each with some type of compound and replaced the entire section of the roof. We have been leak free ever since. From my experience, these people don't know what they're doing or they were too cheap to correctly fix the problem. I WOULD NEVER USED THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!!! FYI--I think they may be doing business as Harris Exteriors and More now. Horrible experience! Would not use this company again!

Although they were busy that day - Good Friday - Chris Harris came out within hours and repaired the roof himself.

These are excerpts from my letter to the company as my complete letter won't fit. July 24, 2009 Chris Harris C/o Harris Exteriors 1530 Brandy Parkway Streamwood, IL 60107 Chris, This is certainly not the letter I would hope to be sending you detailing my experience with Harris Exteriors. When choosing a roofing contractor, I interviewed several as you are well aware. I was open and honest with you regarding the quotations from the other firms at the time when you came by for me to sign the contract. Your estimate was the highest of the 3 estimates I chose from. I did this because you personally presented an impressive knowledge of your craft with what appears to be a complete understanding of roof systems. Unfortunately, this is where my good feelings about Harris Exteriors end. The delivery of the shingles were scheduled for Friday, July 17th, and installation on Monday, July 20th. The shingles did not arrive on the scheduled date. On Monday, July 20th, Jimmy and his crew were prompt and arrived at 7:30am as you promised they would. Unfortunately, the shingles were not here. Jimmy made some phone calls to Carl at your office. He in turn contacted your supplier Allied, and was told the shingles would arrive between 10:30am and noon. At this point in time, it was my gut feeling to not let work proceed on the roof. Rather, it would have been in everybody’s best interest to delay the job one day when assuredly the shingles would be here, and the crew could begin promptly at 7:30am. However, and this was my first mistake, I bit my tongue and trusted all would work out. Jimmy’s crew started stripping the roof after being told the shingles would be here on time. When I enter an agreement with someone providing a service such as yours, I usually leave the people alone to do their job, trusting they will fulfill the terms of the agreement. I am learning, especially after this experience and others not to trust many people. The shipment of shingles did not arrive until 2:30pm. My garage roof had an issue with a rafter that had risen about 1 inch above the level of the other rafters causing a hump along the roof just above the fascia. This hump existed with the old roof, and I expected the problem to be corrected with the new roof. Instead, it was ignored by Jimmy’s crew and a new roof was installed over a bad condition. When I questioned one of the workers at the end of the day (Jimmy was not around as he had left 2 hours or so prior), I was told it was not their (Harris’) problem because it was due to a structural defect. Much to my chagrin, a heated argument ensued. The crux of the issue is this. Regardless if the condition of the rafter is the responsibility of Harris Exteriors or not to correct, the fact is the hump in the roof existed and Jimmy decided to just cover the condition without bringing it to my attention. This was the reason this disagreement took place to begin with.

The process did not go well. I was pressured into getting a colored roof that I didn't really want. I was also pressured into getting it done right away. The roof already needs to be repaired in two large places. I am not pleased with them at all.

Mark was very good about getting back with us. They came out right away and gave an estimate, called back to see if we had any questions and started right away. The crew that came out were good and did a nice job of cleaning up when they were done.

The owner, Mr. Harris came out to quote the job and offered excellent advise. When the date came to do the roof, which was a complete tear off and re-roof, including a flat roof, we were in awe. Three trucks came with 12-14 workmen who immediately went to work. The men were professional and really worked hard to keep things clean and undamaged. The whole job was done in one day and they continued to work until they finished which was 7:00 pm. They did a couple extra things that were not planned for even and I was not charged for them. We were highly impressed with this company and their owner and foreman.

We are very pleased with the results. Chris's consultation at the start of the project was very helpful, as we were moving to a new color scheme involving a change in both siding and roofing colors. The work was very professional and timely.

It was great experience. They showed up on time, did their work, cleaned up everything and left. It was a great experience.

They were very informative, courteous, they cleaned up, and were very conscious of my home. They did a fantastic job and did not treat me as though I didn't know what I was talking about. They involved me in decisions and were great to work with.

We worked with the owner directly, he was very responsive, friendly and helpful. He would stop by to drop off samples and answer questions. The workers were polite and neat. They did everything they said they were going to do and in a timely manner. They worked with our insurance company, which streamlined the process. They provided license, insurance, and references without us having to ask. It was a very good experience.
