"Our 100 year old farm house needed the river rock foundation reworked including filling in under the belly band large trim board. All work was completed and turned out great. Far exceeding our expectations. This winter the house is noticeable warmer due to the work. I would highly recommend JW Masonry. Thanks, Tony"

"The guys were supposed to be at the house at 8:00. At 7:20, Jordan called and said they needed to make a stop and would be ten minutes late. I thought it was very profssional to stay in contact like that. At exactly 8:10, they rolled into the driveway. What timing! The work was done quickly and at a reasonable price. I am very pleased. I would definitely hire them again"

"Excellent! Shay called me within several minutes of reaching out via Angie’s List. We scheduled an appointment for two business days later. Shay showed up on time and promptly got my landscape irrigation going. He also explained to me each step. Definitely recommend Shay and his Company."

"I used Dundee for some projects at my home and they did a great job. Last week I had them install sprinklers at my rental property. While they were putting the controller in the garage they unplugged my tenants freezer so they could plug a light in to see. When they left they forgot to plug the freezer back in and my tenant lost most of the food in the freezer. She called them to complain and they sent someone right over, took responsibility for the mistake and reimbursed her for all the lost food plus some. Mistakes happen but they did not hesitate to make it right. I told them right then and there that I would be their customer for good. Plus the sprinklers work great! Can't wait to see the beautiful lawn they are going to put in next. Thanks Dundee. You guys ROCK!!!

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

Overall, a paver driveway is considered the easiest to maintain because homeowners are able to do driveway repair one piece at a time without impacting the rest of the driveway. Unlike paved options, paver driveways contain individual stones that aren't physically connected. By comparison, you may need to reseal or redo a full asphalt driveway if just one portion sustains a significant crack.

Regular cleaning, sealing, and timely repair of cracks help maintain its condition.

Driveway aprons typically range between four and seven inches thick, though your town's building codes will likely have specific requirements. Additionally, you may need to add a layer of permeable aggregate in the excavation below your paved apron to ensure proper stormwater drainage.
