"We have had several projects completed by Savage Landscape and Home Repair, including a 60? foot fence, a small block wall, and some paver work. In addition we had 200? feet of fence with a custom built gate installed at another property. The staff was amazing to work with, good communication, upfront quotes and timely completion. 10/10 would hire again."

"Adam with Iron Mountain Excavation was so easy to work with. His knowledge and years in business show in all aspects of the project. He’s got a vision that can’t be beat when looking at a raw piece of land and figuring out where to layout roads/driveways and where to place homesites. Would definitely recommend Adam and Iron Mountain Excavation to anyone looking to get dirt work, land development and logging done."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

It is good to spray water on a Christmas tree to help keep the needles hydrated. Spraying a Christmas tree with water prevents dryness, stops needles from falling off, and reduces the risk of fire.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.

Carefully pruning small roots no thicker than three inches in diameter won’t harm the tree. However, cutting larger roots may impact the tree's stability and nutrient absorption. It's advisable to consult an arborist or tree care professional to evaluate the root's size, the tree's health, and the potential impact of cutting. Proper tree pruning techniques and timing can minimize damage, but larger root removal may necessitate expert guidance to avoid compromising the tree's overall health and stability.

Yes, you should trim the lower branches of your maple tree for safety. Trimming maple trees as they grow helps lift the crown and canopy and trains it to grow straight up. A good rule of thumb is to prune enough branches to leave 6 feet of clearance under the tree.
